It is and it isn't. The good thing is that you recognize his characteristics.

Had some fun taking some quail today. First time out with the smaller pup, she needs some training still but is starting to get birdy. Big guy decided to "forget" how to retrieve to the hand and dropped the birds halfway back all day. We'll work on that one. He earns points for not bumping any birds though.

Nice, my crapper flushed the first cuvvy of chukar today, but held pretty good for the other 4. Brought back all 3 of my birds right to my hand though! Forgot my camera today so no hunting shots. Here are some from yesterday.

Terrible pic, but he pulled the bandage off in a hurry, so now he gets to wear this. Also, I was surprised how hard it is to buy just a cone. None of the feed stores carry them and all the vets wanted us to bring to him in so they could look at him before they would sell us a cone. I finally talked one place into selling it to me.

haha. Ours did pretty good with one. 6 hrs after getting fixed she wanted to play fetch. She would crash her cone into all kinds of shit like it was armor. It was hard for her to pick up her small toys from the gound haha.

All the pet stores sell cones and those pillow collar thingies.

The vet just wants to separate you from your money...

Can't believe I'm only just seeing this thread now! A lot of amazing dogs here. I really need to get some more recent shots but heres my rescue Blaze. Only thing we know for sure is he's part Chow cause of the tongue. They told us chow/rotti. This is a few years ago. Just a little heavier and gray now.

Beautiful bird dogs in here! I'm glad to see a bunch of them! Makes me want to move back to my old Kentucky home! There are not many GSPs in northern Virginia. Plenty of politicians though!

On a side note, I just switched the pup over to a raw diet based on a prey model, and the benefits are incredible. If anyone wants my spreadsheet I use for calculating the food amounts and variety, send me a PM.

(Note, I have tuned this diet to specifically field dogs. So the couch potato and non-working dog breeds might not benefit as much)
