Hmmm whats this LR update kit about? Just new bj's and bushings right? If so, I already did that less than a year ago.... I ended up relocating my diff breather into the chubby in the bed, didn't feel like putting it where the gas cap is.

Any night shots with the new fogs??

The update kit had new sleeves for in the bushings and you used 2 washers instead of 4. I found out about it in the new jersey bs thread. I'm not sure where I'm relocating the rear breather but bed behind the tail light seems the best to me. And no pics at night. They're damn bright though!!!

Hill is a little deceiving. The left side is what I went up over but what is seen extends about 10 feet past the base of where I drove up

I think I may be going the same route as you. My truck is pretty much done for mods (just small things left) so I've been really contemplating on picking up a new hobby. That Grizzly 700 is exactly what I want! How do you like it so far?

And that Pelfreybilt looks awesome on your rig! No more worrying about hitting a dear again. :D

I still have lots I want to do to the truck  But until the 700 is paid off I have to find little ways to make some change to pay for them.

As for the Grizzly, I have ridden a 550 and 700 and both are nice! (My parents have both and are both power steering as is mine) After riding a 700, the 550 is no where near enough power for me. I absolutely love riding it! I'm at 910 miles on it now, bought with 158 in June. Wheelbearings are the trouble spot on them for sure, but are easy to replace and you can use Kawasaki Teryx bearings which are exactly the same for like $8 a corner compared to $25 each through Yamaha. If you look used, go 09+. Before that they had gas tank vent issues and they integrated a better shifter knob. The 14 has longer a arms, axles, a new top end, and refined power steering, but I can't justify spending 10k+ on a toy like this. I paid 6500 for it with the wheels/tires, winch, bags, and cover. Basically a steal! The offset wheels compensate for the shorter a arms on 07-13 models and really help with the stability. The tires on a stock one are 25x8x12 fronts and 25x10x12 rear. Mine are 26x10x12 front and 26x12x12 on rear so quite a bit wider than stock and really help when riding in ruts.

I am impressed with the traction of the mud lites but I went riding last weekend in about 6 inches of snow and was less than impressed with them. If I had bought tires, I would buy Terracrosses. Much better in snow, and when I ride pavement these Mud lites shake my teeth out at 30 mph. I'll give a review on the mud lites in deep snow hopefully in just a couple weeks we'll get a lot of snow!

I have added a couple Quickfists to the front rack for my axe and have pretty much destroyed the rear bag from mud. That'll be a spring purchase I'll get a hard case which is what I would have preferred anyhow. I also added a 2r racing exhaust tip which sounds awesome! Overall though, super happy and won't be going with anything but Yamaha and Toyota anytime soon! My buddy was riding a can am renegade 1000 Saturday with me and in 2wd I was climbing snowy hills he could barely make in 4wd! Granted I was spinning like crazy but still made it. The Grizzly isn't the fastest or strongest machine available but they look the best IMO and reliability is second to none!

In a nutshell: Love the machine, wheels, eh on the Mud Lites, will never buy a Can Am :)

Thanks Nick for a great review! Lots of good info that i'll be keeping in mind when I purchase one myself. I've made up my mind for a 700 and grizzly just seems the way to go for me. I need reliability not all out speed and around here, going 60+ mph on a trail just isn't feasible so a Grizzly just makes sense. I think they are one of the best looking machines out there as well. A couple of buddies keep trying to get me into an Artic Cat mud pro but I think they look quite bland imo. I also really like how the Grizzlys have a real locker over Can-Ams visco front diff.

My only issue is going to be whether to buy used or new. If I did buy used, it would definitely be 09+ for the very reasons you mentioned and there are definitely some great deals out there, BUT, unfortunately its Used and a pure offroad machine to boot. We both know most machines are abused... Chances are some of these atvs have had a really tough life or even been swamped, and sometimes that's really difficult to tell.

Lots of peace of mind buying new, for so many reasons. I'm pretty sticky about maintenance and care, and I just don't think many other people are. Knowing where its been, how its treated and this purchase being something I plan on keeping for a long time are big reasons why spending some extra money is justifiable. Kinda like how I went with a new Tacoma instead of a used one.

Surprised to hear about the mudlites not doing so well in the snow. Ever try Zillas? They seem to get pretty great reviews! All my buddies do a lot of mudding, so around here 30" Silverbacks are the norm. I don't know if I plan on going that quite that big since I want decent trail ability. I definitely want something much bigger than the standard 25" tires though. Good call about getting a hard case.. That's what I would go with as well. Mud and soft zippered bags definitely don't go together. lol

Do you plan on doing any clutching mods? Can you wheelie easily with the 26's? :D

I'll give Arctic Cat one thing: They sound like a truck running! But that's it and I will never own one. The Mud Lites came on it and I really don't have experience on anything but them, and the stock Dunlops that came on 07-11? models. But like I said, very impressed with seeing the Terracrosses and will certainly go with them next. I can't wheelie, but never really tried or I'm sure I could. I do plan on a 1mm shim to spin them easier and take down a few MPH off the top end. Like you said definitely don't need that much speed. Based on you're intended use I'd look towards a 27 or 28" tire. 26s are a little small to do a LOT of mud, 30s get too big for trailing IMO.

I do mud some. And that is exactly where the Mud Lites go! Blown away by how well my 700 pound machine plus me "float" on the water in 2wd and my buddy's Grizz 450 gets stuck in 4wd lol. If that was I'd say 25% of my riding they'd be my hands down purchase. However, I only go mudding a few times a year and would rather have a more all around tire like the Terracross.

Honestly, I waited out finding a good deal on a machine that wasn't abused. The guy I got it from never used the winch once and only put a couple little marks on it. I don't regret at all buying used. I too bought a new truck and am happy about that but in my mind, a used machine could be better than new. Usually a lightly used on will be already used enough to get past the possibility of bugs.

Take all my opinions how you wish. But I wouldn't hesitate to get a used machine I'm not relying on daily like I am my truck.

Yea very good points dude. I'm in no rush to buy just yet, so taking my time to find a decent used one is doable. Here in Canada, these bikes are fairly expense compared to down south and they do hold their value quite well. It would be nice to find a used one with a few mods, winch, bags etc etc. That stuff adds up real fast when buying a new machine and then modding it.

How many miles were on your machine when you bought it? I don't intend to mud mine too much, although there is a lot of that around here, but there's also a great amount of trail around here as well so a silverback, outlaw type tire probably isn't the best choice for trail. I'll check out the terracross as well, but I think something in the 28" flavour would work quite well for the terrain around here and occasional mud hole. Surprised to hear your machine floats that well with you on it in 2wd! That's pretty cool. Have you taken any videos or pics out on the trail?

The only thing I really like about the mudpros is they already come with 28's (IIRC) and they come snorkeled from the factory. That's a really big plus. Oh and they have lots of ground clearance as well. That's really nice and all, but I keep finding myself drawn to a Grizz. I feel they are like the Toyotas of the ATV world and we all know you can't go wrong with that!

Just realized i'm severely jacking your build thread and talking about ATV's. lol sorry dude! Thanks a lot for the advice tho, I really appreciate it. :D

We haven't even covered a page with Grizzly BS. I think Colinb had 5 pages about an RC helicopter lol! Mine only had 158 on it when I got it. Snorkeling a 700 costs like $75 and some time in your garage. I'm a member on GC (same username) and I was thinking about snorkeling mine. Still not sure but probably will sometime. The Terracrosses only go up to a 26" so they're small for what you want. I'd just recommend what you're doing: Taking your time and doing some searching. In the mean time, research accessories, reviews, etc about anything you want to do. Lots of products out there, most are passable. Some are must haves: winch, case, good tires, heated grips, hand guards. That is mostly all that's gonna be on mine. I won't spend much on stuff for it unless I NEED it. I'll keep an eye open on Craigslist and Pennswoods.net and let you know if a super good deal comes up around here. As for pictures:

Great pics man! Nothing like atv/truck porn in the morning lol. Great looking Grizz. If you're planning on snorkeling it, are you going to do a rad relocate as well? The WildBoar kit doesn't seem that expensive. I would more than likely snorkel mine as well, try and go 2" pipes if I can, although I think you gotta narrow it down to 1.5" to get the tubes through... Have you got any armor on that? Or just the factory oem stuff? From the research I've already done, a winch, hardcase, handguards and handwarmers are definitely must haves for me. I think i'll also go with Ricochet skid plates underneath as well. Lots of rock up north to play on so I think that would be a wise investment. All that and some decent tires and I think i'll be set.

So lemme get this straight, you got an 09 with 158 miles on it, with accessories all for $6500?? Damn, that's an amazing deal! I'll never get that sort of bargain around here, Canadian prices are so much higher. If you happen to see anything like that again, please tell me about it. I think even with the travel expenses, US/Canada transfer fees i'll still save a bundle of dough. It's certainly an option ill entertain...

IF I snorkel I really doubt I'll relocate the rad. I need the front rack and I don't seek out that deep of mud. Mainly just water crossings. I'd probably go 1.5" tubes on it and they won't be very high. The pic of mine on the trailer all mudded up with the 2 other ATVs was after a poker run in September and I clogged the rad fins because of water crossings and dust from the trail. Imagine a water spray, dust, water, dust... Basically made a concrete build up and I'm still working on clearing it out. I'm looking into getting a piece of mesh to put behind the main grille that will allow air to flow behind it and also protect the rad from that happening again if you know what I mean. Basically a pre-screen like the URD intakes.

Like I've said with the tires: Research what's good based on what you ride in. Mud lites are great in mud and general trail riding. I'm not as impressed in snow but haven't tried deep snow. Reverse is where they aren't great though. The curved tread makes moon shapes and the tires just spin in them in 2wd. 4wd it goes. So eh, some day when I have money I don't want to spend on the truck  I'll get some different ones.

I do not have any armor yet besides the stock stuff. In all honesty, if you're not crawling big rocks all the time or landing hard a LOT I wouldn't bother changing them until the stock ones are shot. And then I'd get the Yamaha glide plate. UHMWPE 1/4" thick and get the Ricochet A arm guards. Best setup IMO and several members on GC run this and love it!

And yes, I did score that deal! Sad story behind it. The guy who owned it got it when he was sick and passed a couple years ago. Only rode it a couple times. His son rode it a couple times and said it just wasn't his thing. He was looking at getting a bike. The ad was for 7k and when I messaged him I had all intentions of paying that and he said he'd drop it to 6500 if I was really interested. I drove down the next day to Pittsburgh and brought it home! I'll definitely keep my eyes open for a deal. I just clicked around yesterday and found a couple decent deals but nothing worth rushing to get.
