I've watched someone go down it. I've done blacks and I have no interest in doing that blue.

Anyone here have Fios? I currently have Comcast and it's coming to $160 per month for cable, internet and phone. Fios sent me a flyer for $79 per month for months 1-12 and $89 per month for months 13-24. After paying for the set top boxes and the taxes it's still around $115. My question is, is there any downside to them?

The monthly price should be pretty comparable between the two after all the promotional periods run out. So double check that you have everything included in your estimate for Fios. Either that or Comcast is raping you right now without a bundle pricing or something.

From my experience having bounced back and forth each year to keep promotional pricing and as I bounced from apartment to apartment for a while Fios is much better service. The cable boxes tend to be newer and thus work better since they are newer to the game (although that may be moot by now). The main difference is internet. While Comcast may have burst speeds that get really high they tend to be wildly inconsistent based on how much bandwidth your neighbors use, the quality of the cable runs in your area (which again can be quite old since they've been around forever), and the cabling in your house. Fios on the other hand is very consistent, you almost always get exactly the speed you pay for. The wiring is all new, and being fiber to your house it either works as expected or not, no slowing down or spotty service.

That said, it really comes down to what's better in your area. You could be in a region where Comcast is running top notch, has all new cable runs, a good distribution facility, fresh boxes, etc. Just like with cell phone companies it really depends on who has better service in your area. But if you are tired of Comcast then give them a shot. Worst case you save some money in the promotional period and switch back after a year or two, and then save more money on a new promotional period with Comcast.

Should be free, unless they started charging for that. I thought I just heard an add the other day that they are promoting free install/activation. Again, may vary by area.

    Interesting.

My parents have comcast and they should get 54 down 12 up. In the same day over maybe an hour period it could go from 50/12 to 36/12 to 42/8.. all depends.

I know with xbox if they see these types of spikes in your service the device assumes you have a lag switch and will slow down your service.. (at least according to xbox phone support..)

I do this every time it expires too...lol....threat them to leave...
Not sure if I'm getting best deal but I'm paying about $185 for triple play with all taxes and bs fees included and I'm getting one DVR/HiDef/3D capable box, one HiDef box, and one basic cable box....All were brand new when I transferred service to this house 3 years ago... I also have these premium channels: Stars, HBO, Cinemax, ShowTime, and Encore. I'm getting the high speed internet with powerboost and free Xfinity Hot Spot....
My ADT alarm system contract expires this coming May and now that comcast do security systems, I'm going to see if I can bundle that too….or get ADT to lower my dues…. :)

    * I write my Internet off to uncle Sam

I think a front locker should be on your wish list :p I'd be happy to just get my rear. I also think I'm gonna air down a bit more next time. I was nervous going below 20ish but I can probably go down to 15.

Blacks aren't all that bad when you have good spotters and plenty of armor and recovery gear. Plenty of us have done some sketchy ass trails at rausch.

And hunter, saying that a jeep breaks stuff is like saying the sky is blue.. They don't call them heeps for nothing.

Yea I think ant launched it too.

Yea an arb front locker is on my wish list, but my truck does just fine for what I want. If I ever re gear that will be the time to add another locker.

I need to get me some armor. At minimum sliders for now. Fuuuuuuuuuu to being broke and addicted to yet another expensive hobby.
