i forget who made it, but we had a nice tool that spun the wires together real quick and neatly. made it a little less painful.

I think our mechanics have a tool to do it as well, although not sure how quick it is, and they aren't ever around anyway when we need the tool... haha

Glad to hear she's still running strong. That little fridge has to be coming up on 7 years old now. I think that's pretty good as it goes for mini fridges.

My buddy that used to be an airplane tech had that tool. Just like this one. Works like a charm.

 damn, i never would have guessed it was that old. it's a champ for sure.

and that's definitely the tool. ours looked a little different, which means it was probably a different brand. it pains me when i see people twisting wire by hand

Yeah, I got it not long after I started working for Toyota. That was almost 8 years ago now.

I hate safety wire pliers! I'd rather do safety by hand.

yesterday and this week have/will consist of fixing skids and doing a drain and fill on the transmission to get it ready for an off road/charity event this saturday :)

wrestling these skids is never any fun, but i think the end result will be a much better setup than how the skids came, as they were originally designed.

many thanks to Mark for a driveway and helping hand

so thanks to Mark's keen eye, a potential fire risk was found under the hood. we've speculated, but are still not sure as to how enough current went through the fuse to heat it up and melt it, but not pop it  it;s a fuse to on of my light relays. lights still turned on with the fuse, but something has obviously gon wrong. had it wired like this (same relay setup) for years now and never run into this issue. going to check all of my gonnevtions for proper contact, and if i don't find anything wrong, i'll may up a wire size. however, i don't want to jump into anything too quickly, as it could very well be just a faulty fuse.

it compared to a brand new 15A

little distortion of the plastic for that slot, but it was very localized to that indevidual fuse. the new fuse went in just as easy as any other slot though. so functionally, it should be jsut fine, once i track town the cause. blue sea uses some nice plastic. the kind of heat it takes to melt a fuse like that could have easily toasted a good part of a fuse box of lesser quality (like my old one)

That makes me think most of the heat was probably in the fuse itself so I'd guess faulty fuse but as you said Blue Seas uses nicer plastic so I guess it's still possible that it could be something else but your wires might have damage to the insulation as well if it wasn't just the fuse.

Did you flip them on with the new fuse in yet?

I would have. Haha you've been using it with the "bad fuse" this whole time now anyway. That would be the fastest way to rule in or out a bad fuse. Just test the temp with your finger every so often and shut it off if it starts to get hot.

it's not so much that the fuse is getting hot, but why is it getting hot. odds are, if it was a bad fuse, that's not what made it hot, that's just what kept if from popping. something esle is likely the cause, whether if be a bad connection somewhere, undergauged wire, or something else.
