When I ordered mine I asked about the new designed ballasts and they said I was getting the original ones. But what was the difference in the new ones that they sent out

the original ones is like Russian roulette. you might get a pair that works like a champ with no problems. or you might get one that has the same issue as most of us.

I can tell you the "temporary" replacement they sent me (I received yesterday), still has ignition problems.

I've pretty much accepted this problem wont be fixed until the CORRECTED balllasts gets here mid December

unless when they said "original ballast" they meant the ballasts before this new batch, then maybe you'll be fine. wait and see. Let us know either way

Its the original ballasts before the new batch from my understanding from what I was told. He said I should be fine but ya we will have to see

I see in a video they were testing the projector without the bulbs in to make sure no sticking is happening , how could I test this

Has anyone painted the center bowl without taking it out or is this a bad idea?

I was told to cut it before you paint it (if you're doing the FX-Rs) so that would mean removing it first.

I'd take it out just for the convenience. But if you think you'll break the plastic tabs I guess you can leave it in. You still have to grind down the back (of the housing) so the adapter plate will fit correctly anyway.

I painted mine still in the backplate.
There is no reason to remove it for the D2S/Mini-H1.

can you still aim FX-R's like a factory light, or is it a set them in place and that's it kind of thing.

They still aim with the factory aiming screws. They're attached to the reflector bowl just like regular halogens would be. The only thing you can't do is correct any slant. So make sure they're perfectly horizontal before you close them up.
