$6,000 to upgrade stereo? WTF?

So I was at a local Toyota dealership for a small service issue and was looking at a 2014 Taco in the showroom that was basically the same as my 2011 color and all but it had a nice navigation/stereo setup inside I asked the parts people how much would it cost to upgrade mine to that. They told me about 6k. Wut......

 

Honestly that doesnt shock me since you went to a dealership and asked.

 

That was the transformer package. You didnt know that it also turns your car into an AutoBot besides playing okay tunes and getting you lost 90% of the time? Idiot.

6k would get you one hell of a stereo if you went to a local shop or did it yourself. I have less than 3k invested in my setup and its pretty amazing sounding so far.

New factory radios are not cheap. I know Toyota runs a similar program (at least in Washington) as Generous Motors for all factory radios, clusters, and nav modules. If GM will approve a sale of a new factory radio that hasn't been in crash, fire, flood. they Usually run 2k -6k just for the unit, and have a few hundred dollar core charge. then you gotta pay for some guy to swap it in. kind of a joke. So it doesn't surprise me.

 

Its not 6k for the stereo itself it includes other things included in the TRD package or limited.

 

What other kind of stuff?
