Mine is 03 and the recall was done on it but i think later 03's and 04's had the different LBJ's from the factory.

My wife's 2004 had the recall done by Toyota at 30,xxx miles. The VIN on her truck is 98,676 numbers earlier than mine.

My 2004 did not fall under the recall VIN range but I changed them out with (top of the line) Raybestos joints at 115,000 miles. There was no discernable play in them but they just felt 'loose' on the road.

We are the second owners of both trucks.

The pictures you quoted are my Moogs. I replaced my OEMs with Moogs at 124k miles and right now I have 143k miles. They look like they've been on the truck for 200k miles. Thr rubber boot on the Moogs started cracking within 3-4 months. Junk.

If you register for that website you can see what history has been performed on your truck through the dealerships. It tracks by your VIN.

Yes, they are Moog ball joints. Moog makes many different parts. If you haven't learned already from this thread, you should not buy an off market LBJ brand. Though it's more expensive, stick with OEM.

Just get OEMS from camelback Toyota here on the forum. Cheaper than fixing the mess if the aftermarket ones shear......

I did my balljoints about a month ago. I had already ordered the Moog lbjs and had them in hand but after I read this thread, I sent them back and ordered OEM ones from Camelback Toyota - for about $175 delivered for a pair of LBJs. I trust many of the senior posters here and if they are saying Moogs are to be avoided, I value that input.

People saybthe moogs used to be good, but quality has slacked and most dont get very many miles out of them. My OEMs recall's have probaly 100,000 on them atleast. Im not sure of the milage when my dad had them done. But i have put 75,000 on them.

The price of Moogs has gone up over the past years making OEM LBJs not much more expensive, especially if you can get them locally.

Get them from camelback. You get free shipping on them, and they're cheaper than local dealer unless they price match, which mine would not. I just bought a set, its ~$170 for both LBJs.
