Thanks for the explanation, I've never heard of that before. Possibly because I'm in the desert where we don't see much rain, other than monsoon season for about 2 - 2.5 months

Siping gives more edge area for better ice traction. Winter tires have a lot of siping.

I read this on TacomHQ a lift kit guide said:
Additionally, a truck that has an add-a-leaf will almost certainly ride much rougher than a truck with a block lift or new spring pack…consider yourself warned.

Sipped my 265/75/16 copper discover at3's. So far so good. I had the same tire last season but not sipped and they didn't do all that great on ice. I'm excited to see how they will work this season now that there sipped.

Thanks for the warning, negative nancy. Haha looks like I've gotta burn through these things before then!
Then again, my tire warranty covers me down to tread depth rather than a timeframe so I might be fine no matter what.
Know If the delamination is a recall issue or just typical of reinforced tires?

I haven't been able to prove or disprove this, but after digging through every review I could, these wrangler Kevlar mtr's seem to be terrible on ice due to limited siping- great everywhere else though.
I just got my set so I'll find out soon enough. But if you live where you deal with ice often, be careful with em.

Mounted my full size spare on the roof rack because contrary to all the damn threads I read swearing I can fit a full size 285 under there,
    You just effing can't.
After dicking around with it for way too long, smashing brackets with a hammer etc, I realized it hits the hitch tube and the diff at the same time. Actually got stuck up there after driving around town.
Check your sizes before you get that full size spare!

Looks awesome! I'm thinking about ordering a set but was wondering on how they mounted. Bolted on to existing holes in the frame or were they welded?

BAMF makes bolt on (using factory holes- just requires drilling on the bottom of the frame to make them true sliders i.e. for use with hi-lift but JLee says that without the drilled bolts on the bottom they should be fine for most uses) and weld on.

We were busy the last week. Changed all the oils over to synthetics, added some Go Rhino Nerf Bars, added a Relentless ant. mount on the hood hinge and installed a Galaxy 959 DX in the cab. Also did the Mag Lite mount on the side of the drivers seat. Today we work on a buddies 2013 , he got a Aries Brush guard off Amazon for 100.00 with free shipping last week, going to see how that works out.

I bolted them on and then welded. The only way these are coming off is if they are cut off with a laser.

As Jack frost arrived for the first time on the south shores of Lake Superior yesterday, I found myself wondering: Replace the bed weight that I used last year during the winter, or just use 4H more often. With the bed weight last year, rear traction was improved over nonweighted but steering sucked with the reduced weight bias on the front tires.

    Opinions welcome...

I find having 400lbs of wood pellet bags spread across the bed works well!

I had 160lbs of sand make no difference unless the bags were against the tailgate. Near the cab was like I had no weight in the back. Too much weight near the tailgate makes the front end light, like you mentioned.

However I think having 200-300lbs spread over the bed is a good setup. I buy pellets 10 bags at a time (40lb bags), and trying to at least keep 4-6 in the bed if we're getting a lot of snow or sleet/ice.
