Yep. He provides a 14pin to 10pin adapter that fits the plug that should be in your ceiling lining behind the overhead console. I guess the temp readout would be something like '---' as it would have nothing feeding info into the mirror

Woo, lots of variations on different yrs and trucks but mine was simple.......regular cab, no overhead console, no wiring in place, run your own. Running my own was simpler than having to figure out all of what Toyota did or did not do with wiring in different year models, lol...............

Correct. The temp sensor can be installed later, no harm in doing so. In the meantime, the mirror display will read "OC" for "open circuit" because the sensor isn't hooked up. The temp sensor wiring is attached to the adapter harness, so you'll just have to temporarily coil that up & just tuck it away above the overhead console until you're ready to finish the job. Otherwise yes, the compass display, homelink, and autodim features will work the moment you plug the mirror into the factory wiring.

That definitely can be true at times - I deal with all sorts of makes & models, and there are some times where I just avoid the factory wiring entirely and do a fresh install using a regular wiring harness. But...when the factory puts the wiring in place, it can really make for an easy 5 to 10 minute job (but then...finding a source for the factory plugs can be a major pain in the you-know-what. I just somehow managed to find a source not only for the mating 14 pin plugs that work on the Tacoma and Tundra, but also the 10 pin plugs used on earlier Tundra's and even the 5 pin plugs Toyota uses on the Camry & Rav4).

Does anyone know how I can find if my 2013 Double cab has the wiring in place for plug and play for temperature, compass, and rear view camera?

Bob mentioned in his post that some trucks even have the camera already installed, just need the mirror. Anyone know where I can see how I can verify this?

I just got the truck back from the dealer. They had to swap out the bumper due to damaging the old one. I had complained that the mirror was not presented properly in the brochure. Initially this got me nowhere but since they continually had issues getting the truck right each time they had it, they asked me what I wanted them to do to make it up to me...

I have a Gentex 341 with Homelink, compass, autodimming, and temp installed at no cost to me.

The bumper fiasco allowed me to get an nice plate bumper installed at cost w/Line-X.

    Overall, not too bad.

I wrote a non-agressive letter to Toyota about no mirror or compass on my 2014 TRD.
I have never had a company tell me to go SCREW myself quite that nicely before.
    Last Toyota for me!

Why don't you just look at your tailgate handle and see if there's a camera in it?

I just put a compass/homelink in the wife's 2013 RAV4 recently and never even looked for factory wiring. It came with an oem wiring kit so I just used it like I did wiring up the truck. She already had temp in the gauge pod & backup cam in the stereo.

Cool deal, made out, 341 is nice, love mine. Did you get amber lighting to match dash or was it the bluish? 341 should have maplights too, mine does.

It does seem to be a nice mirror. The lettering is blueish and it does have the map light. I am very happy with it, especially considering the cost!

All - first off, a HUGE thank you to everyone who has bought one of these mirror kits...the ones that I had left from the previous dealer buyout are pretty much gone now.

Going forward, I can still get the autodim/compass/temp/Homelink mirrors for your Tacomas, but the new cost (still including the special wiring harness of course) is $299 including shipping. Please PM me directly for them; they are not going to be listed on ebay for this price. One thing, though, is that I have to order these from the distributor in small lots, 5 at a time, so for anyone else wishing to order, please keep in mind that it might take a few extra days to get these shipped out as I don't keep these in stock (but of course, if demand is strong enough, I will stock up on them).

Also - for those of you who don't necessarily don't want this particular mirror, we have many different kinds of mirrors (too many to list), and we can easily fabricate harnesses for the mirrors to work in the Tacoma & several other Toyota vehicles.

And should I mention that I also have tailgate camera kits available 2013-2014 Tacoma's? :) These are for prewired trucks that also have the radio with 6.1" display. My supplier says it's for 2010-2014's, but (correct me if I am wrong here) I don't believe the radio with the 6.1" display was available prior to 2013, maybe late 2012 in the Tacoma. CMOS camera kits are $159; CCD camera kits are $199 (CCD gives you a slightly better picture, and night time image is also better than CMOS), including shipping. Youtube video showing the installation process: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL5FA7aa5-c

    Thanks again!!!

Whooohooo, looks like I got one of the last cheap ones... :) thanks again Bob.

Anybody that has installed one, can you point me in the right direction for running the temp sensor wires? I can probably figure it out myself, but that usually ends up with at least one thing broken, a lot of foul language, and added expense that could have been saved by a few pointers.

CORRECTION The camera kits for the trucks with the 6.1" screen are only for 2012 & 2013 model years. Product info I received had some erroneous information, so after speaking with my rep I got clarification that this particular camera kit is ONLY for the 2012 and 2013 trucks that have the camera prewiring in place and currently have the radio with 6.1" screen. A version for the 2014's is in the works and is due to be released soon. Sorry for the confusion!!:sorry:

didnt take a pic of it yet. I'll take it off again this weekend, but its just the facory 14 pin connector with white, green and red wires. No temp sensor wire apparently. Its just the ground, Accessory power and regular power.

Just ordered a mirror from bob without the temp gauge and got an pretty good deal. Its all plug and play apparently and i'll post pics once i get it installed. Thanks Bob!!

Just noticed yours is 2014 so the bluish probably matches already? Mine is 2008 so I has teh orangish lighting and found one that came amber. Also I have regular cab so all the features on the 341 made me quit missing the overhead console like was in the 05 AC I had......
