Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I have been tracking my mileage on fuelly now for awhile on my 2013 6spd taco..

It SUCKs... I love my 6spd but really have been getting much worse MPG than my auto. with similar driving i averaged about 18mpg in my 2012 auto vs my current 14.5 ish now per tank.

My fuelly is misleading because i have been towing a lot lately, but im curious how many people out there have got decent mileage out of thier 6spd trucks?

Don't get me wrong, i am keeping the 6spd, its what i like :) and i expected worse MPG than my auto. Im just checking out other peoples experience with it.

I am thinking of going to 235/85r16 tires, i currently run 265/75r16 maybe that will help a little?

Also, probably due to the onset of winter etc but at approximately 11500 miles now and my MPG is about 2 mpg worse than it was 5k ago with nothing changed. My guess is the warm up of the engine and the winter blend fuel?

Winter blend fuel, more O2 in colder denser air, and more time spent in closed loop = worse mpg.

    I hear ya, I've got a 6sp 4x4 and typically get about 15mpg mixed driving. Sometimes 14, sometimes 16.

I heard there was a different transmission you could put in that is geared better and will improve mpg a bit but i'm not sure where that thread went.

The FJ also uses a 6sp Aisin transmission, and 6th gear is .79, where Tacoma is .85. Maybe just a couple of gears and a shaft to convert, I honestly don't know.

I've gotten 20.4 MPG on a long highway trip driving for economy, my best by FAR. Normal mixed is lower, short trips especially in winter / 4wd use / pushing though deep snow, man, it gets so bad I don't want to calculate it. I'm running 235/85R16s, and didn't notice a diference in milage from the 265/75R16s I had before. Keep in mind the 235/85s are only available in load range E /10 ply rated, where my 265/75s were LR C / 6 ply rated.

Winter blend is part of it. But its all in the throttle. Doesnt matter if your auto or 6MT

If your seriously concerned buy yourself a scan gauge, you'll be amazed at how much more aware it will make you of your MPG.

My wifes new venza has the Instant MPG monitor. I swear I've never driven so slow so often in my life, its almost like a game watching the MPG and trying to keep it low.

best I have seen is 19 when I was on stock 245/75. I get slightly over 17 with 265/75. doing my best to burn these tires so I can try 255/85 but I don't expect any help from them.

    adding 3% for 245-265 upgrade

Yeah, my numbers were corrected for tire size too. I was pretty happy with the results from that trip, especially being loaded pretty much to legal capacity with 2 adults, 2 kids, and full of camping gear / food / water for the week. I usually drive my truck short trips or for fishing and hunting, so off road / very steep / deep snow..., all the things that suck back the fuel.

Considering my main driving is mixed city/interstate I have never seen much over 17. Averages are closer to 16 but lately my lead foot is ruining those numbers... I am running a 1.75 lift in addition to larger tires.

Under normal driving, I'm getting about 18 mpg. I was running 265-75-16 LT tires. I have now switched to the same size in a P rated tire. The cut in weight hasn't done much. Still about 18-18.3

I use an app and track mileage for work, stock tires.
    avg. 14.87
    worst 12.77
    best 19.65
I barely ever turn my truck off during a 4-6hr period driving from place to place. I avg about 10mins a job, so the truck idles for 5-15min between the travels. Sometimes this goes longer but usually I'll go turn it off if things are out of sorts. The worst was the 2nd fill up, I only avg. around 13 when brand new getting better around 2500 to 5k. The best was trip to obx. My last 2 fillups were higher with new wheels but they are wider, so I'm unsure if that may be playing a role.

A little of this and a little of that.
I get between 17-18 mpg with my V6 six speed. I've found that keeping the air filter clean & the tire air pressures correct helps.

OP: Click through my fuelly banner in my sig to see all of the fuel ups to date. Tons of data. I'm running 265/75/16 in summer and 265/65/17 in winter. Don't forget to adjust for the increase in your tire size. All my stats are adjusted in fuelly.

Op: I'm pretty much in the same boat. The odo reads just over 11k for me. Best mileage for me was 20.1. The past few fill ups have put me right under 18. That's just over .5 mpg less than avg. My truck is totally stock for now with a tonneau cover. I'm in CT so we are starting to see days that are constantly below 40 degrees at this point. My fuelly is also linked in my signature. Check it out if you want. Hope this helps

I am getting 22 to 23 mixed driving and over 24 HWY. I use 89 octane ethanol free Conoco gas. I use 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th gears for normal driving. I shift at 1500 rpm and keep it under 60 MPH. I have around 5600 miles on the ODO. Also those figures are without using the cruse. With the cruse the MPG goes down.

I've tracked every tank on Fuelly for my 2012, 37,500 miles so far. Click on the Fuelly link and check it out. My best ever was 20.5, normal has been 19 in the summer 18 in winter unloaded. My Fuelly shows 17.8 as average for all, but I also tow so the average is down. Fuelly shows a combined average of 17 for this vehicle so I'm doing better than average. Coming from years of driving pickups that got from 8 to 13 mpg average it doesn't bother me at all to get 18 with 4WD.

I just want to add also, contrary to popular belief Missouri and eastern Kansas is not all flatlands. There are hills here.
