    It's the same principle as having a hitch in. It's not like it protrudes out any further than a regular ball hitch.

    It's some law in California. If somebody hits you from behind it's automatically their fault. I don't know the exact details of it, but that's the main point.



    I don't know if it's like that in other states.


    I know in Arizona if you hit somebody from behind, it's automatically your fault for "failure to avoid an accident".
