Jump on it mike! They still have the silver one in stock or the white or shoot through shipping in 7-14 days. I was going to get a soft box and changed my mind when I saw the umbrella's.

I'm going to get the diffuser for it soon.

Wow LR5 has a lot to offer, this shall be fun to learn on top of many other things. Here's a quick little bit I played with tonight. There's a lot of noise in this picture even though I shot it with the ISO set at 200, thoughts on why?

Not the greatest shot by any means, but still not bad for being taken on my phone

When she pulled in to Cars & Coffee, I made a beeline for her and showed her where the rest of us Toyota off-roaders were parked. We had a brief conversation about her rig. I told her how I take photos of people with their cars and showed her some on my camera. She let me shoot a photo of her. I thanked her and as I turned to walk away, I realized that we were surrounded by younger single guys who were waiting for the old fart with the camera to clear out so they could make their move. Too funny.

Actually I was waiting till I got back to the station to look at your pics. I believe you are more than just a dabbler as you first let on to. There are some outstanding shots on your flicker. I like the Bridal shoot pics. I see you also dabble with off camera flash. :D

The more I look at it (different computer) it looks like the trees on the ridges are what I'm perceiving as noise.

It's an unbalanced exposure. Sky is exposed correctly and the shadows are underexposed. It's called shadow noise. Couple of ways to fix that problem.

    1. Use a graduated filter to tone the sky down to get detail in the shadows. (ie. cover the sky with a darkened half of the filter).

    2. Take two shots and make a composite in photoshop. One exposed for the sky and one exposed for the shadow area.

    3 HDR it.

    4. I ran into that awhile back at the beach and didn't have a grad filter with me. I mounted the camera on the tripod and made the exposure for 4 seconds. Then I held my phone over the top half of the pic at the horizon (to cover the sun setting) for two seconds and then pulled it away to expose the sky. The beach got exposed for 4 seconds and the sky for 2 seconds like that.

^^^ Poor man's way or I forgot my shit at home. lol

Thanks for that info! I wasn't capable of doing HDR back then but can now. I'll have to keep that in mind for similar situations.
