It's a GD game... I don't think it's that marketable in that grand scheme of things. I'd pay a person training to defend their country more that someone who could hit a ball, etc. But like I said... if people want to pay the large fees to watch and buy the shirt, then they will continue to make the overly large salaries.

Pretty accurate for here too for the average home.

I have a long time friend in the airline biz with me, he lives in eastern NY. He and his wife pay $1,200.00 a month just for their property taxes.

... Upper east coast is hard on the wallet.

    Yeah.
This is a complicated subject with lots of moving parts. Raising minimum wage significantly would cause a ripple effect that has to reach a new equilibrium. It could mean higher prices, fewer people employed, fewer scheduled work hours, a drop in the level of service, but most likely all of these things. None of which would solve the bigger problem.

They call it minimum wage, not living wage. The entitlement culture is a problem and is why most of the stuff we buy now comes from overseas. I am not sure why anyone making fries would think that they are entitled to own a home and a new car. That is socialist thinking, and humans aren't wired to tolerate everything being equal for very long. The situation saddens me, and I am guilty of spoiling my children and continuing the problem.

Only 57% of households in the US will pay income tax this year (which is actually an improvement, but only slightly). Those 57% are subsidizing the rest of the nation. For many, those subsidies are a better "living wage" for doing nothing rather than working at the local McD's. Would raising minimum wage really change that? Would the new equilibrium result in better lives for more than just the minimum wage earners? Or would it cost many and benefit few?

My wife has a college degree and watches kids before and after school as part of a school program to support lower-income working parents. Some of the kids have special needs. She makes minimum wage. If they raised minimum wage, they would have to decrease staff coverage, and the children, especially the special needs ones, would not get the same level of care. My wife doesn't necessarily need the job, but she would not be the one affected most if they had to cut staff.

Get over it. You make french fries. You sometimes forget the salt. That's OK, you are making your way through the world. You will soon either have a better job or figure out how to make a living wage without actually working.

    Yeah.
Those dried up hot dogs on the roller thingies at 7-11 will start looking tastier. Bring your own cup for a 75 cent refill. Big Red or Mountain Dew?

And why do they still call it 7-11? Most are open 24 hours now.
