According to the dealer my CEL code indicated a bad O2 sensor. I replaced it with a new Denso sensor yesterday. My question is will the CEL go out on its own or will I have to have it reset or should I just disconnect the battery for a while and do the hard reset?

    Thanks!

Okay, I guess that means taking it to O'Reilly's and borrowing their code reader...not paying the mechanic $40 for two seconds work. The Toyota dealer charges half hour minimum. :censored:

Anyway, thanks for the quick response! I'll do that next time I'm in town.

IF the sensor fixes the actual problem the ECU will turn off the CEL after the next drive cycle is complete. If not, it will stay on. You can clear the code and see if the CEL comes back on, but you dont have to.

Sounds good. I'll see if it goes out after I drive to work tomorrow. Not planning on going anywhere today...no sub job and it's foggy as all get out here!

    Thanks.

I'd highly recommend buying an OBDII scanner - they're less than $20 on Amazon. :)

Well i personally would just disconnect the battery for 10mins and the light will go off. If the problem is still there I think the light would come back. But that's just me.

It should work on any OBDII vehicle, as far as I know.

Yup, it works! I just had to know, so I disconnected the battery for a while. I just hooked it up and started the truck...no CEL! :proposetoast:

Thanks everyone! That will save me a trip across town, I hope. Unless the Toyota dealer didn't tell me the whole truth, I should be good to go and the CEL will stay off.
