ok...lemme start this off by saying......the only thing i know about stereos and speakers is that i listen to them......yeah....i dont know jack shit else about them.:D

been thinking of upgrading the speakers in my truck, but i dont know where to start. im guessing i need to know the size and what fits/doesnt fit, right? also....i have the stock head unit in there still......wasnt really planning on upgrading it, unless i have to. its just a simple single cd and stereo, which im fine with(me and new technology dont mix too well......haha:eek:), so im kinda wondering if replacing just the speakers will be enough, or if im gonna have to do more.

    any pros/cons/tips are welcome. thanks.

well......they sound ok i reckon, but not really loud enough for my half deaf ass to hear most of the time....especially on the interstate with the windows down.....cant hear the radio at all...gotta crank a cd up to hear anything.

From what I've heard with my own ears, the stock deck is the weak point of the stock system, not the speakers. I put an eclipse deck (CD4000 I think) in his Taco and it sounded a ton better. I'd do that first if I was you. It's quite a bit less intensive too.

you can get an amp, itll make the speakers have alot more power. but its not totally necessary. but it just depends on much you wanna be able to hear your music. and a head unit will also improve the sound too.
