    Ok so... I noticed when my 4x4 light is blinking, my vsc, rsca button doesn't work either. Is that the same with yalls truck?

    so i got my new actuator in the mail this week. so the project for the day was to chage them out. took me about an hr to do the job. and its freaking nice to have my 4wd back again and for it to be working correctly.

    My cousin said the part was $259. But the part from the dealership and instal that they could easily charge another $200-$400. So that would be crazy! :eek:

    Thank god I fixed my 4wd actuator and did the abs kill switch mod!

    So i think this soldering of the actuator motor will fix my problem, I have the 4x4 light and Lo light blinking at me and when I go under the truck I cannot move the front driveshaft that connects the 4x4, so does that mean the rear accuator is engaged and the front one in this thread is not working, anyone with some insight would be appreciated?

    Update: hoping for some more help, took off the front actuator and it looked prestine as the day it was installed, still added some soldering to it, but now were do i go from here, could the rear actuator be bad and not disengaging the front drive shaft for 4x4 anyone ???

    I ended up just buying a new one and swapping it out. The top left bolt is a real bitch to get out and get tight.

    I had this issue in August. Took it in to Toyota cuz I had no clue what was wrong. Sure enough it was the A.D.D. Toyota wanted $1500 for parts and labor. The ADD alone was close to $1400. CRAZY!!!

    Looked online and found it brand new for $750. Still CRAZY. Went to the junk yard and scored one for $175. Toyota also said the 4x4 switch needed to be replaced....NOPE! It was only the ADD. So I spent $80 for the switch that has been sittng at my work desk for months brand new in its package!

    Had a buddy install it within an hour! havent had any issues since. Now the stupid part, I just threw the old ADD away this weekend!! (kicks self in azz) lol

    Good thread.. Here's a pic of one of mine. The rubber vent hose ended up being sliced, allowing water into the actuator.

    Toyota was unable to "fix" the problem under 3 warranty attempts, so I filed a lemon law case and was awarded $2500.

    Stupid ass dealership...

    I played with the front actuator and took it apart, put it back and got the 4x4 to engage and now I have since taken the front accuator off and taken it out of 4x4 (ie moved the fork over) so no it is not in 4x4 but it seems that the rear actuator is engaged as the front drive shaft is spinning, so I am thinking something is stuck somehow. Any advice ???
