    With all of the hype around various fuel saving technologies, I wonder if Toyota will be among the first to go hybrid with a truck. Seems to me that the Tacoma is a perfect platform. Toyota already has tons of hybrid experience under its belt and their diesel engines are top-notch. Put the two together and...BAM!

    Not sure i would want to take that through deep water. Damaging the electric drive while offroading would be a costly expense. You could easily get 25+ mpg with a diesel in a Taco. That and 400lbs of torque (if using a 4BT motor).

    I would rather them offer the D4D as an option for the Tacoma. Nothing wrong with an efficient diesel engine!

    I think we can all agree a Tacoma has slightly better ground clearance than a Prius.
