Not sure why you cant run these or why its not a good idea to level an AC. the dealership told you this right? I had a guy at the dealership tell me i didnt want an off road tacoma thatit would be too rough of a ride. Well i upgraded shocks and springs and it even rougher or more acuratly a stiffer ride. So what do they know. Back on topic you should be able to run the 265/75s no problem. Some folks are running 255/85s no lift with minimum rubbing.

Thanks. Didn’t even know about that section of the forum. I just assumed it would be part of the tires and wheels since the two topics seem to go together. I got all my questions answered within minutes without posting a thing.

After I read a couple of the stickis in the Suspension part of this forum, I followed the link to this site, and got the following info. My rig is a 2011, and lifting the front sounds like an expensive proposition and possibly compromising ride and tire wear.

NOTE: 2011-2013 Tacoma applications: Toyota made minor changes to the Tacoma upper control arm suspension geometry. In some cases adding a leveling kit MAY affect the ability to correct the caster alignment to within factory specifications. If you have a 2011-2013 Tacoma with a leveling kit and the caster alignment specs cannot be put back to factory your truck will require an aftermarket upper control arm with adjustable caster/camber.

Yes, I heard this from the dealership, and it seems like he knew what he was talking about. If anyone here has a 2011 Taco that has lifted the front end with a spacer, I’d like to hear about your experience.

I really wanted to run 265/70/16's but they don’t make them in the S/T Maxx. I wanted something a little wider, but taller and wider is ok too if they would work, but it sounds like it probably won’t in my case. So it looks like I’m stuck with 245/75/16's or maybe start the search for another tire, but I like these the best of all I’ve seen.

I'm sure there are plenty of folks here on the site that are running 265/75s on a 2011 ac with no lift.

All you may have to do is remove the front mud flaps. Personally I know a guy running 285s no lift. And I know of a handful of folks on the site here running 255s no lift.

Go to a shop and ask if you can test fit them. If they fit then cool if not well I'm wrong and Toyota is right. I know some "automotive centers/tire shops" cough sears cough walmart cough won't install anything larger than the OEM size listed on the door frame. Not sure if the dealership you went to is trying to do the sane thing to you.

I just noticed that Cooper does not make a load range C, or D, tire for the ST/MAXX. Every size they make is load range "E." That's unfortunate for me. I really don't want to run a load range "E" tire. For my application I'd prefer load range "C".

When the time comes I may end up with the standard ST tire in the same size. I can get that in "D" range... still not exactly what I want but I have a lot of time before I buy as well...

From the guys that have talked to Cooper directly, ST Maxx is supposed to be offered in load range D in the 255/85/16 series.

If a tire will rub on stock suspension it'll rub with lift. Your travel doesn't change with a lift.

Also interested to see if they do a 17" wheel version. Although I can't knock the KM2's and really like them.

Once my 285's die, I think I'm going to switch over to 255's. I really like the look of them.

That and I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the ST's.

As soon as my 255/85 KM2's go away, I'm getting these. Definitely!

cooper sure didn't tell me the tire would be a d rating. which i wouldn't expect because it is clearly advertised to use their armor tek 3 ply sidewall casing, which will always be e load.

Is there an advantage to the 255?

Side note to a couple guys on here. I have 265/75/16 on my stock taco. Never rubbed.

Oh boy you opened a can of worms with that question. Its all preference really. Although if you read through the 255 thread there is tons of facts/opinions to back up that its a better all around tire.

I could not wait for the ST Maxx and bought a set of Cooper ST's in 255/85R16. How many times have we been told something "is soon to be released" and it is months late or never does appear? OFTEN. Besides the ST-Maxx will likely be $50 more per tire if and when you can buy them.

Yeah, you did good. I would not wait or hold my breath either. We are told lies all the time. Marketing spin... I've had enough to last a lifetime already.

I just received an email from Cooper on these tires. They are adding 26 sizes to the line! Some coming with C and D load ratings! I'm pumped! Waiting to hear about a lighter 285/70R17...

Yes, on time or late, the good news is this tire size has the attention of major tire manufacturers. I am new to this size, but like the heigth and look on my Tacoma! I am hoping to regear and add one or two ARB lockers this coming Spring so that I can climb rocky stuff slowly and in control.
