Will do. I should have time over Christmas vacation to get it done.

I did just the doors on my old X-cab with some Dynamat and I could tell a difference. This time around I'm doing all four doors, the floor, and the roof. If I have any leftover I may do the back wall. And I got it all (shipping included) for less than $200 bucks! Not a bad investment for something that makes a HUGE difference everyday!

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.

id do the back wall over the roof. A) the head liner sucks to work with. B) more road noise comes through the back wall anyways.

    I avoid mud.

But the times when the trail is covered in it, I've never had a problem with my BFG ATs.

The main reason I want to do the roof is that's where my microphone is mounted for my bluetooth. I figured it would help with wind noise, etc. But now you've given me something to consider...

    Where is your mic mounted?

Wind noise mostly comes from the windshield and windows. The time, effort and money to do the roof in sound deadener/dampener will probably only yield marginal results.

Most of the road noise inside an extra cab comes from the resonance of the rear wall and door panels.

    Just my $0.02

Right next to the map lights/rearview mirror. I felt pretty limited with mounting options. I have considered re-routing it to come out by the interior light right above my head. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions on a mounting location I would be very grateful!

Mine is mounted right behind my steering wheel where my odometer is. Mines small and doesn't interfere with seein the odometer. I figured when I'm on the phone I'm looking at the road and my voice goes straight to it. Also easiest place to go from my radio to right there without taking anything out is the main reason haha

I had mine there and the callers on the other end of the line said I sounded like I was in a wind tunnel.

I moved mine to the driver's side visor corner, just next to the A-pillar, and people have since told me that I sound loud and clear.

Maybe try moving the mic before diving into such a labor intensive project.

I moved mine to that spot too but I think I was getting a lot of vibrations from the plastic trim piece.

Best spot I've found so far is on my driver's side visor by the a-pillar. Plus this way the wire is behind the a-pillar with the exception of maybe an inch. Nice a clean looking and completely out of the way.

I never thought about the plastic vibration and haven't asked anyone how I sound through it. If they say I sound bad then I'll be sure to move it to up there!

Well damn. Don't I feel like an idiot for not thinking of that. :anonymous:

What did you use to mount it? Adhesive strip?

Mine has a little clip that just attached to the plastic trim but the other option was adhesive tape! I can take a pic in a little bit if you wanna see

Glad I got the manual in my Taco then. Starting in second with my FX4 saved me many times, especially at an uphill stop sign when some jerk pulls up behind me so I can't back up and get a run at it...another reason to hate mini-vans.

Anyone ever consider putting some sort of damper or composite on the underside of the dash plastic? Road noise doesn't bother me too much but the dash drives me crazy when i hit a big bump and it sounds like its gonna fall off right into my lap.

Well, the sound deadening is something I want to do anyways. I like a quieter cabin, as I spend A LOT of time in my truck. I just figured it would help out with the Bluetooth. But re-mounting the mic, plus sound deadening should do wonders for that aspect! Thanks to everyone for the input!

I hear ya on the desire of a quieter cab. I did my rear wall, rear quarter panel (in certain areas), both doors (inner and outer skins), and my kick panels. HUGE difference.

    Here's my mic location
