I have a graco snug ride 30. bought the travel system plus another base. we still use everything and he is 10 months. love the adjustability.

One thing I don't like is the fact that if you leave the seat in your car, the straps always have to be pushed to the side for ease of putting the child in. I wish there was magnets or something

    We rolled with this:

    http://babycity.co.za/products-page...ignature-series-3-in-1-modular-travel-system/

and a matching Graco Snugride 30. We bought an extra base to be able to transfer the car seat from one car to the other.

Graco was slick but soon taken over by a B.O.B three wheel stroller. Actually, if you are interested in the Graco stroller, car seat, and two bases, shoot me a pm. This will save you a considerable amount of money and help clear out my garage.

And put a mat under the base/car seat. It will leave imprints in the seat cushion.

And the fit was perfect for the double cab Tacoma and Latch system. Plenty of room.

I'm guessing the side-to-side movement of the head, or perhaps the car was hit from behind which would cause the baby's head to move away from seat.

Infants are especially fragile, there's some instances where the seat won't be adequate.

It seems to me that the cheaper seats usually lack in the adjustability and extra padding for different size babies.

For instance, the $90 or so dollar seats in my truck (I have twins) don't have different spots to mount the latch/anti-submarine part. (between the legs) this causes our kids to slide down and slouch a lot more.

The Diono's also have a special belt in them that has some give, and is recommended for small children to reduce g-loads a bit compared to traditional straps.

I've used the Britax roundabout, Britax Marathon, Britax Decathlon, Graco snug rides, Diono Radian's, and Cosco seats.

I'll reiterate the snap-in grace's while they're small enough. You're going to want to be able to carry them around sleeping.

My favorite, for when they get a bit bigger, has been the Diono Radian's, followed by the Britax.

we have baby trend, fit in my '97 4runner and now in my 10 dc. the bases make things so easy a base in each car and your money and they allow for so many options for strollers when you take that route.

Find out if the delivery hospital offers baby seat safety check and if not go to your local fire dept and get the safety seat training, and on that note make the gparents and anyone that may be driving your child take a car seat safety course. Can't stand it how many times I have had to say something to the father inlaw, it's not the sixties, kids don't ride on your lap anymore pops strap them in!

one kid seat in the middle, 2 car seats obvioulsy gonna have to put the one with the base behing the passenger.

We have a 6 month old and a 3 year old. 6 month old uses a Peg-Perego Primo Vaggio and the 3 year old uses a Britax Marathon 70. They both work great in my double cab and I recommend them both. My wife likes to sit in the back with the baby and has plenty of room on the far right. The passenger seat table really comes in handy with this configuration as well!

We use Chicco. We had the snap in and out one when Cedar was tiny and now we have the bigger one, I think rated through 60lbs or so. Good stuff.

I have a boy arriving in April, to my understanding all car seats should fit in the double cab.

Do you have a access cab ?

I have that same recaro pro ride but in the blue color. Took daughter home from the hospital in it and she is now 3 and we still rock it. Britax seemed like a lot of hype to me and recaro exceeds US standards and also European standards which when I bought it was higher than ours. My second choice would be diono as they have a backpack mount you can buy for travel which can help. Save your money, you dont need a bucket seat than another one in 6 months or so, recaro will do both and its rated up to 70lbs so you will get your moneys worth. I paid 279 on Amazon
But that was three years ago.

Will post a pic for you tomorrow.

Is your truck a double cab? How'd the proride fit rear facing?

Are you using the middle LATCH anchors for your rear facing seat?
Our 12 double cab owner's manual said not to use those anchors for the middle seat. We were to use the regular seat belt to secure the car seat.

Also, sharing the same LATCH anchor with more than one seat is a no no as well.

Just looking out for ya and the little one.

Britax has always been one the best car seats on the market but you pay for them. All of the other brands are a step, minor, down including Chico, Graco, Safety 1st etc. We've had 6 or 7 different seats in most of the brands mentioned and hands down the Britax's are the easiest to use and the sturdiest feeling. The Marathon has all metal bars that go the full length and metal crossbar supports, most of the others were plastic with some metal.

Safety. I just want to say the amount of car seats I see installed incorrectly is insane. The number one offender: Leaving the carrying handle up or not locked in the forward position when driving. The handle used to carry the infant seat must be locked fully forward. It allows the seat to act as a shell in the event of a major wreck, if it's up it will hit the seat first and cause the infant seat to jerk sideways, not a good movement for infants head/neck. Also, I see a lot of people not using the top restraint meant to go over the seat to the back when forward facing.

As far as an infant seat goes I would have bought this if they made it when my kids were still in them:

This is the Britax Marathon which was and is great for our kids when they outgrow the infant seat 4-6 months depending on size. Our 3 and 5 year olds still fit in the Marathons to this day.

Here's my Access Cab with a Britax Marathons and a Graco Nautilus in it:

This is my 4year old at the time in his Graco Nautilus, which becomes a booster. The Nautilus is the best fitting seat in my truck but I wouldn't put any child in it less than 3-4.

    myamada1230,

My truck is double cab. When we had it rear facing, it was a beast no doubt, better in the middle. Your gonna have that issue with everything rear facing. We got a Graco Snugride bucket seat too as a gift and I tried it too before she was born, worse, it fit only in the middle and was real tight too not much advantage so i took it back. So until that forward facing period, its gonna be tight regardless of what you get. That period goes by fast. Now my daughter wouldn't have it either way, she loves the recaro and it fits perfectly, we have had it in the middle and we prefer it behind the passenger as the wife likes to ride comfortably in the back too.

I am getting my moneys worth, as we have had it since she was born and I don't think she will reach 70lbs for another year or so. But the disadvantage I will agree is that without a bucket seat that clips in, loading and unloading becomes cumbersome if your baby is asleep and would be easier. But once again, that period goes by quick too.
