of course they will, because the cost of the goods and services produced by those earning the new minimum wage will rise for all...including the minimum wage earners.

So because a couple a people try to work the system for all it's worth, the rest deserve to get the same. And what do you mean by "certain people"?

Larry, which God is it then? Zeus?

It's based on percentage of population.

    correct:

Americans are the most charitable people in the world. That is not just a generous exaggeration. The voluntary giving of the American people during times of need has been documented in many different studies. These studies show that Americans will give far more towards helping out their fellow man, in times of trouble, than any other private citizenry in the world.

    ----------------------

(CNN) -- As we approach the Christmas and Hanukkah season, we should remember that the American commercial republic, too often criticized for greed and excess, is unparalleled in generosity.

    -----------------------

    Q. Are Americans more or less charitable than citizens of other countries?
    A. No developed country approaches American giving. For example, in 1995 (the most recent year for which data are available), Americans gave, per capita, three and a half times as much to causes and charities as the French, seven times as much as the Germans, and 14 times as much as the Italians. Similarly, in 1998, Americans were 15 percent more likely to volunteer their time than the Dutch, 21 percent more likely than the Swiss, and 32 percent more likely than the Germans. These differences are not attributable to demographic characteristics such as education, income, age, sex, or marital status. On the contrary, if we look at two people who are identical in all these ways except that one is European and the other American, the probability is still far lower that the European will volunteer than the American.

I make just over $15 an hour and I rappel out of helicopters for a job. However with that being said I do support a higher minimum wage. $15 may be a bit high for fast food, but paying people 8.00 an hour leads people to apply for government assistance programs.

A Christian is one who believes Jesus Christ is the messiah God. (myself included)

Jews believe in God but are not Christians.

America IS NOT a Christian country, because America is not a Theocracy. America is a Democracy with a representative republic governance.

"Certain People" definition is in the statement you quoted. Please read more carefully. The statement you quoted from myself only addressed your implied notion we dont care about our citizens. Do try to keep up with the conversation.

sit in conversation with a Christian and a Jew...you will quickly understand there is no fine line or hair splitting.

and of course...Muslims are not Christians. so no, not the same God.

I'm just going to mention that while I support a little increase in minimum wage, I do think if folks wouldn't try to live outside of their means, they would not feel so exhausted financially at the end of the month. I mean just because your best friend has the newest ipad, and pair of air max does not mean you need to go and get them just to compensate.

I supppose I read more into what you wrote. However, we're not talking about helping the folks on TW, we're talking about people who don't make as much in a year as a Tacoma costs.

I understand percentages and posted such.

I never said "Americans are the most charitable people as a percentage of population" (as your link suggests)

I posted "Americans are the most charitable people in the history of mankind"
