Yea, I don't have the exact numbers. But the thresholds are well above the poverty line by multiples of 3-5 on some government subsidies. I'd bet even doubling the wage wouldn't result in a significant reduction in government aid to dual income families if they're already getting it and almost zero reduction in single income families.

Ha ha...let me know how it works out as your family and friends slowly decline in wages and make the rich richer.

Do me a favor...look at what the unions have created for the worker in general...union/ non union...you might change your mind.

I've answered this earlier on. People just need to be smarter and stop expecting shit to be given to them on a silver platter is ultimately the point. Perhaps there is a feeling of disdain because I/you/whomever actually had to earn my way rather than cry about it and expect big brother to give out a handout.

They had a place, once upon a time. Then they got greedy, the prices of everything rose, and then jobs moved to China (or insert country of choice).

Over simplified version, but you get the point.

At you inlaws, did you pay full rent, that the average person might have to pay... did they kick you out if you were short from time to time? Did you only eat what you bought? You had a bit more opportunity than some get.

And that's not to say that you can't do it all on your own. I did, and many other on here I'm sure started with nothing as well. But not everyone can do on their own.

Weekends,8 hours a day, 40 hour work weeks ,the company would own people in the day. Safety was the biggest issue. It started with the miners.
