Finally got myself a set of DuraTracs and also finally got some pics of them installed.

Got the rigids installed in the fogs...

 

265/75-16, Load Range C.

Had a hell of a time getting them, though. First set I got from Discount Tire. Go to pick them up after waiting a week for them to locate a set and find that two of the four have metal snow studs in them. Turns out they had to get this set from a store in Colorado.

I think the guy was already a little ticked that I was only getting the tires and not needing them installed. His response when I found them was, "No worries man, just run them like this and you'll be fine." I, of course, knew that was total BS. Looked up the laws and sure enough, it's illegal to even run metal snow studs in Florida, much less just an overall terrible idea.

Ended up telling them to keep the set, remove the studs if they could and then we'd talk. In the meantime, I called up Tire Rack and worked a deal with them. Only ended up being $10 more even after shipping.

Fink, looks good man. I am definitely going to try and get the duratracs. I am also interested in possibly getting the authority's. looks good man, You got the same low profile tool box I am looking at too.

 

I got the same tires. I was expecting to have a little power loss, but I haven't noticed any.

Keep a can of the Special Purpose WD40 that's water resistant (if you wash your truck often) and it will be even better.

I've noticed some with the A/C on. My mileage has also taken a pretty significant hit, but I'm not too worried about it. Going to give it a few fill-ups and then see how bad it is.

All I know now is I usually get around 120mi on a quarter tank (I fill up at 3/4 tank) and now I'm getting around 91-94mi.

I don't care about mileage, though. It looks 100x better and I actually prefer the ride now over the Dunflops.

I like the Dick Cepek DC2's. I also like the Mickey Thompson classic 3's. Or you could try to find some fj rims.

 

Wanna go a little higher. I got Billies on the front right now that are set at .85 setting. Have been going back and forth on getting eibach springs or just throwing them up to the 2.5 setting for the front and a 1.5 in aal in the rear.

New rims. Ordered the Pro Comp 7089 in the 16in (don't wanna change size cause thats the tires I have) and now am just questioning whether I like them enough. So that's why I asked about them.

A muffler. I like the sound of the aero turbine 2525. Probably gonna go with that one.

The truck only really goes off road whenever I'm going hunting or camping or something like that.

I'm just bad at making big purchases (or big for me as a college student). I start to second guess myself and all sorts of stuff.

 

Hey...that's a nice truck. I'm a bit partial, though.

Sorry to hijack your question, but what did you do to your steelies? Plastidip? Paint? Powder coat? I will likely want to go black with mine so I'm doing some looking on the various ways.

I painted them. Krylon primer and then Krylon Satin black I believe. The cans at my Dads house so I don't know exactly what it is. If you're looking for a cheap way to get black rims it definitely does the job. It's a lot of fun to work on the truck too.

 

Cool thanks for the info. I've seen the F5s and they were actually another rim I was considering. Like I said though I'm just very indecisive.

I've also seen the BHLM too and I like it but am just a little reluctant to tear apart my head lights.

Out of curiosity are you lifted at all?

 

Nice. The only reason I'm wondering about putting the Billies up to 2.5 is the ride cause me and my truck go on about a 16 hour road trip May and August from Tallahassee to Dallas and back and I don't feel like dealing with it for that long of a trip if it rides like crap.
