simple question guys about my Elocker swap

    Okay.... the 3rd member im taking off my rolled truck has stock 4:11 gears... my 97 has 3:91s caaaaaan I... take the ring and pinion off my open rear diff and put it on the e locker? or are they different rings... thanks

    They're different.
    One (open) is a 8.4'', the other (E-locker) is a 8''

    depends on what axle its going in.

    the e locker 3rd member needs an 8" specific axle housing. If i remember right the 97s didnt have the diff lock package yet. but dont quote me on that. so the e locker third will only fit in the axle it came in, or another "e locker axle"

    Im saying taking the whold third member and just bolting it on to my 97 axle which is B06A with all the guts still in it.

    Swapping the guts?
    I don't think it'll work.

    your trying to put an 8'' Elocker diff in and 8.4'' housing. Won't fit.

    let me say it again lol.. I have a 2004 trd tacoma that is rolled.... its axel code is a B03A my 97 tacoma is a B06A which means there both 8" rings... i want to take the 3rd member elocker out...(still has the ring and pinion in it) and bolting it on my 97! lol:rolleyes::eek:

    You'd have to swap the whole axle.
    you don't have to regear immediately unless you're gonna be using 4x4.

    this is simple...did this axle come with an e locking third

    if you have one truck with an e locker and one without you need the entire axle

    techincally yes, they are both "8" housings.

    But the ring gears are slightly different and more importantly the pinion is different and how they mount is very different.

    it won't fit.
