I actually haven't removed my badges yet. I bought a set so I could paint them before hand and remove/replace all at one time.

I did use Goo Gone when I removed my TRD Decals and had no problems at all.

Anyone have any idea what color black will match the black sand pearl factory paint the best?

Paper towels soaked (not too much though) with denatured alcohol works too, and it's much safer on the paint than Goo Gone.

You should just spray the same stuff you used on the emblems into an old glass/cup and dip a q-tip or detail paint brush into it and dab it on where you need to touch up. Either that or spray it directly on the tip or brush.

i just did this mod today and it was a learning experience! Started at 11 and worked till 2 then ate lunch and went back to work around 3 and got done at 9. (i painted my bumpers with rust o leum hammered black too but that's easy!) I had the hardest time trying to remove them, i tried the fishing line to run behind but that def didn't work cuz i have a first gen taco and on the back and quarter panels it had those like rubberized emblems and they sucked to take off! I used the hair dryer but they almost crumbled with the line so i just used a can opener end haha instead

lots of trial and error and touch up but i like the result, i'll post pics 2moro....and yes don't try to paint when their on the truck it's a horrible idea cuz i tried even tho everyone said not too haha, "ritard"

some used some spray clear coat but most do not. It's suggested that you do atleast 3 coats.

Yeah, I did 3 coats of clear on mine... so far, so good! The clear does add a little bit of gloss, so if you're going for a matte black, just know that.

Yeah i used clear on my grille emblem as well, it definitely comes out glossy, but i'd rather have the protection.

Thinking about debadging my '06 impulse red but I'm concerned about fading since the truck is 3 years old. Anyone else experience any noticable fading after the badges were removed?

Arctic bull bar, hitch step, side bars (All by Avid Off Road!), BHLM, eye lids....
I sanded my emblems down (again) and even though three are toast (have others on the way, though) I experimented - I did not use the adhesion promoter, but instead used Dupli-color Acrylic Enamel (black), 3 coats (as per directions) and then 3 coats of rust-oleum plastic paint (spray). This gives the edges a rough look (acrylic) and the main lettering a bit of a luster.. looks good. Will post pix later...

I did mine a week or two ago. I used the goo gone, and I had no problems. I've used that stuff on bikes, cars and now my truck.

I also just used 3m emblem adhesive instead of the tape. I haven't had any problems with the emblems being loose or comeing off. The tape is probably better, but I don't have that kind of patience.

i took my badges off with the intention to paint black, like the look without, so that is where it stays.

yo james, I have the same stuff as you do the emblem glue my only concern though is it being too strong. If i wanted to remove the badges to repaint them cuz they get chipped or something do you think paint would come off with the badges?

I had to order mine over the internet. Couldn't find any either. I think autobarn.com had it.
