I started pricing Jesters (17's), no lift on truck, called Maks wheel and tire, gave him truck info, friendly agent there said they had what I needed, got a quote, and I said I would call back later. Called back today but they weren't open. Wanted to get some tire info so called Carid, gave the agent there the same truck info and this person says the Jesters(17's) won't work without a lift no matter what size tire I run. I don't know whats going on. Can I please get some help. I've gone over the wheel diagram a million times, am still confused by offset and back spacing, and can't figure this out on my own.

I have a 2011 Prerunner, 2 wheel drive, double cab. no lift. short bed
    - why won't the jesters work
    - what is the biggest tire I can run on 17" rims
    - my current tires are running out of time, I'm cheap, so if I buy new tires for my stock rims, I'll run them till its time to replace tires again and revisit this whole thing. I'm not a lot stupid, just a little. please help.

They only come in a 17x9 with a +12 offset, you will probably rub at stock height.

Edit, they only come 9" wide with a +12 offset, there are other wheel diameter sizes.

Actually, for 6x139.7 bolt pattern, they come in several widths and offsets:

    8.5", 9" and 9.5" widths
    +12, +00, -06 and -12 offsets
    16", 17", 18", 20" and 22" diameters

For OP's 17" interest, they are 9" wide only, but available in +12, +00 and -12.

1 - The Jesters will work, but you need to decide which offset you want. (I would suggest either +00 or -12)
2 - The biggest tire you can fit will depend entirely on which offset you choose.

what is the difference in look between the +00 and the -12? I know that reads weird but I need the help. I am also going to put an all terrain tire on the rim. I wanted to run a 265 or 275, whichever would fit. Basically I want to see some tire from the front view. I am hoping to be able to afford the lift at the next tire change. what would you run knowing this? thanks

I'll appreciate any and all help.

If I want to see a little more tire, does that mean I need to buy a tire with a larger aspect ratio? Does that mean smaller tire with larger aspect?

.5". The -12 will stick out half an inch further than the +00.

There are countless threads on wheel and tire sizing, I would suggest you start doing a lot of reading until you get a better understanding of it all. Here's a couple to get you started:

    I would go with 0 and a 265 tire. I have a 4.5 inch lift with -12 and 285's.

Thank you all for your help. I have read the 2 threads you referred and understand a bit better. I think I have what I need. I am going to try and make a purchase again. Sandjunkie, yours was the first build I came across with the jesters, I almost pm'd you for advise. thanks. I live in college town and have never seen jesters. every freshman comes with a truck and XD's. Nothing against XD's, but they are everywhere where I live. thanks again.

I went with -12 and a 265/70/17 a/t. I have very little rubbing, haven't even trimmed yet, may not. Is there any kind of market for the original wheels to get some money back, or should I keep them? I need side steps, weathertec floor mats, and seat covers, in that order.
