That's what I thought, but I shot an M&P .22 with no problems, that was my first thought is that it was me, shot another pistol, issue didn't occur. My dad has also shot the same pistol and it shot really low for him to.

I have a question about gun cleaning. How often should you clean it? Like, after a certain amount of rounds have been through it? Or is it a timely type cleaning. I usually just clean mine after every time I shoot them because I never know when I'm going to shoot them again. Just curious.

I clean mine after every shoot, and lightly lube every ~250 rounds if we're gonna shoot alot.

Depends on how many round, the gun, and the ammo.

I usually clean rifles when the accuracy starts to suffer.

I clean my tokarev every time I shoot it because I have corrosive ammo for it.

The rest of My hand guns get cleaned whenever they start to malfunction or I feel like it (usually I feel like cleaning it every few range trips). My carry gun gets cleaned more often because I want it as reliable as possible

I clean my long guns after each trip out because they inevitably end up laying in the dirt or getting a lot of rounds thru them

I clean my Glocks once a year...but I will oil them every now and again

I clean my other pistols after each outing

My duty rifle and duty sidearm get cleaned and oiled every month or so whether they need it or not

I clean and oil mine after every outing. I don't shoot overly often but when I do, the guns typically get a lot of rounds through them and I usually don't know when they'll be out again.

As much as I like guns, I hate cleaning them. It was fun the first hundred times I guess.
I bought a G17 Gen 4 that I didn't clean until it ate 1500 rounds. It didn't fail, I just figured it was time. If I'm shooting corrosive ammo I'll clean after shooting. My EDC stays clean too. Glocks or Kalishnikovs not so much.

I have to clean my AR after I shoot it suppressed. It gets completely caked with crap after a couple mags. Most other guns don't get much attention, to be honest. I did oil my bolt action after I hunted all day in the rain.

that sounds tedious. send that can to me and I'll take that trouble off your hands......

I clean mine after every range day, and after every few hunting trips.

Free time, cleaning a rifle can't hurt

It depends, if i am sighting it in before a competition, i dont clean it, as i dont want the sights to be even a little off the next day. Also, there have been a few days were it was almost dark by the time i got home and i cant clean the guns in the house as everyone complains when i do, and i dont have a garage or anything like that, so it is also weather dependent as to when i get a decent day and time to do it.

If multiple people (with shooting experience) are getting the same result you may need to have the barrel crown checked. I've seen where a really poor crown job was pushing bullets in all directions...usually not 5 feet but, may be worth checking out. Have it recrowned and see if that helps. The other problem could be the rifling but, that's rare.

That's interesting I've never had that issue shooting my AR's suppressed. What kind of ammo are you using, gas system, gas block?

I have several of these so I'm never without one. Also the Lula loader for AR mags. I've been to several defensive shooting schools. Loading and shooting 1,200 to 1,500 rounds in two or three days will wear out your thumbs! Also, I had put some skateboarder's tape on an XD grip and slide once. I ripped that stuff off half way through the first day of class! Like sandpaper! Drawing and racking the slide hundreds of times in a day and it was ripping my skin off.

As a test once, I shot one whole season (March through November), matches and practice, without cleaning an M&P Pro. Came out to a little over 3,500 rounds. Never puked once. I did a 2 day AR class in WY and shot 1,500+ rounds without cleaning. I did oil occasionally. No issues. Not what I would recommend, but had no problems. I was running the AR unsuppressed. Much cleaner that way. To me there is no benefit to using my suppressors in a class environment. I still have to wear hearing pro since not everyone is suppressed and I don't want that extra round count on the cans.

For my long range precision rifles, I typically clean the bore in the field after shooting so I can foul the bore with a few round before packing up. I have a small kit that I keep a bore guide, patches, solvent, brushes, jag and slotted tips in. I made a neat rod holder for my one piece cleaning rod out of PVC tubing. Keeps it from getting bent. Makes it easy. I clean the bolt, extractor, raceway, etc. after I get home. I can put up some pics if it will help.

    Bob

BTW - always remove a suppressor before cleaning your rifle. Had a guy in a class stick a jag tip and patch in his suppressor. It was stuck tight! Had to unscrew the rod and send the suppressor back to the manf for repair. Not a good deal.

Your ARs aren't dirty after you shoot them suppressed?

I'm with you on that. If shooting a standard DI AR, they get filthy in no time shooting suppressed! With a gas piston AR, not as much I've heard. I don't own a piston upper.
