Thanks... I like the versatility of the softopper.. shells are more of a permanent item of the weight of them.. and maneuvering them... side note I am tempted to roll up the sides but I think its still stretching out....very tight fit

How easy is it to remove the softopper completely? I would use it mostly in the winter months or when it rains to provide cover for my dog when he rides in the back in a crate. I also would like to know i carry a MT Bike that mounts to the rear bed rail closest to the rear cab windows by removing the front tire and the front fork mounts to the rail, is there space for this? The bike mount is brand new and cost a good $100 so its not getting replaced. Leaning towards Softtopper no need for side windows just need basic coverage:)

The rails are'nt the issue just the top itself. I carry a MT bike farily often and would have it down 50% of the time. Just concerned about folding it down and what kind of clearence to access the rear most tie down rail.

If the bike rack attaches to the front bed rail, directly beneath the back windows then you should be ok. But if the rack attaches to the side bed rails then you may have a problem. The softopper has rails that stretch over the entire left and right bed rail. Here's an example... I've thought about getting a toolbox but I want one that over laps the bed rails. Well I can't get one of those because the softopper bed rails are in the way. If you can figure out a way to mount the bike rack to the tailgate or the rail closest to the windows then you should be golden.

Super easy. You'll just have to remove the windows (front and rear) to be able to access rail closest to rear window. And find a way to store them flat, if you fold them it creates creases on the plastic.

The Giant in the center is a 29er. They all fit just fine under the softop. I thought I would have to fold it up to put the bikes in and out, but I just open the side windows and reach in to maneuver the rear.

Off the wall and probably a stupid question but I know with a hard top there would be a 3rd brake light on the back of the shell, I want a softopper do I need to worry about the loss of of the 3rd brake light or am I paranoid about being rear ended again.

Totally NOT a stupid question. You cannot see the third brake light at all. I was hoping it would show through the windows, but the forward window completely blocks it.
I don't worry about it tho since I have a steel plate bumper :D

you could always get one of these

Is it bad for the rear window if it's bent when it's cold out? I usually flip the back window up when grabbing equipment out of the bed. But since it's been much colder here in Austin, Texas than usual, I've been keeping the window down out of fear the window would crack or cause a permanent crease.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get this caked in mud splashes off the topper? I went mudding Thanksgiving Day, let it sit for about a week before I could wash it, and now even after letting it soak with car wash soap, getting rained on and scrubbing with a sponge, I can't seem to get the mud out. The prior owner religiously kept it maintained with Mother's vinyl protectant, and I used Meguiars vinyl protectant with Scotchguard about monthly so I was hoping it would set it like it has. Any ideas?
