Last time it had gas in it was august/september... reason being I have access to company car's these days, barely drive the poor thing...

Pretty sure it's gone stale, I get a light crank as she tries her hardest to start, then just the pleasant clicking of the starter (Side note the spring for my hood latch doesn't reset properly anymore... have to pull it to a locked position, then release it to get a reset) about 100% sure it's bad gas.

Have a little under 1/2 a tank, thinking of mixing some premium gas and seafoam into a five gallon can, and pouring it in... hopefully getting it to start then, and if I can get to the gas station and fill the tank to the brim with the highest octane thing I can find.

Maybe adding some seafoam to the crankcase? It's probably getting the garage for the rest of winter... Sadly I think our time is coming to an end, after buying new tires, new stereo, and lol O2 sensors... The truck has always run faithfully, and has proven to be the only car I trust in a blizzard... but I never drive it anymore... so extra side note...as I'm afraid to ask, since I thought I'd have this thing to the grave...

How much is an 01 Tacoma extended cab with no rust, in the midwest at 107k worth? Those tires are now Cooper Discover AT3's. Full Off-Road package locking diff's and all.

The clicking indicates not enough juice to crank possibly. Have you checked the battery?
Try jumping it and see if it will spin over.
Battery terminal connections clean and tight?

Doesnt sound to me like a bad gas issue... more like a dead battery (Edit: or corrosion on the battery terminals). if you do get a full charge on the battery and it starts but runs like crap, then i'd assume bad gas

Have to agree doesn't sound like bad gas to me. Get a charge on the battery and then give it another go.

That's a nice looking truck, you should be able to find a buyer easily. Price it out on kbb.com and check out your local craigslist to see what a similar Tacoma is going for.

Your issue sounds like a battery, give it a jump and head to you local autozone to have the battery checked for free.

Got lights, radio, irritating factory alarm setting itself... with it's obnoxious beeps... Is it just not enough juice to crank her over, but plenty for the bells and whistles?

    Yeah.
If it won't turn over, it either does not have enough juice or the connections are too corroded for the kind of amps required to to make it turn over. You still may have enough for lights/radio/etc., but if it won't even turn over that has nothing to do with the fuel.

    1. Check battery connections
    2. Get a jump so it will actually turn the engine over
    3. Try some Startron in the gas tank if you use an ethanol blend (E10 is unfortunately very common).

Definitely possible. Your best bet would be to try a jump, as suggested

I'm in agreement with everyone else- check your battery. It's probably near as dead as a doornail.

Yep...I'd bet battery. Give it a jump. Mixing the SeaFoam in a 5 gal can and adding to the tank is not a bad idea. Could do the same concept with Heet. If it's been really cold, the fuel line could be froze up. I've run into that on one of my son's car a few years back during a long negative temp spell. Fuel line could have been froze and you ran the battery down trying to start it. :notsure: Good luck.

Once you get it to crank, shoot a little starter fluid in the air intake. If it starts then, you've got a gas problem and have ruled out everything else.

Tell me more about selling the truck - manual tranny? Cruise control? Any rust on the frame?

I bought a real similar '01 in NM this summer. Spotless frame rails, no cruise, no sunroof, no tonneau cover, 150k, manual, V6, TRD. $10k.

I disagree. That stuff is the kiss of death for an engine.

Engines that had ether sprayed into them, will most likely always need ether.

No rust, California truck, automatic, sunroof, 3.4 liter, TRD off road, cruise, SONY sound system, sliding rear window, new off road tires, tows 6k fine, locking diffs too.

    Update.

Battery died, no clicks at all.

Somehow the dumbass factory alarm still arms, but everything is dead.

But yea a week or so when I ran it, it ran like shit I work next to a Toyota dealer so I asked the tech there, said bad gas... so thus the seafoam. Too much snow to leave the hood open outside right now... have to wait for it to clear so I can push it in the garage or jump it. Just had to finally have the time and means to take care of this on a shitty snow day.

x3. I try not to use it if I don't have to. That crap will wash down the cylinder walls. Only time I might use it is on an old junk lawn mower.
