I was never a fan of caps, but thats brilliant. I do a lot of road trips and would love a place to sleep.

Sure have. But useful info to others as well, if they happen to stumble upon it. I am leaning towards Route #4 in the MilePost, which sounds similar to yours. I will be retired by then, so in no hurry. Sounds like I'll need an oil change during the trip.

It sounds like you made this trip alone? Is that the case? Pretty gutsy for a motorcyclist.

Ya, it was a solo trip except for the first two weeks with my buddy. We rode around Colorado together before he had to head back to work. I'm retired. I've ridden in all 50 states and all of the Canadian provinces and territories that you can get to by road. It was a long ride and, of course, I had some concerns, but don't think it was particularly gutsy. Not exactly like riding in third world countries.

I changed the oil in motel parking lots. Got oil and a $1 plastic bowl at WalMart and recycled at Canadian Tire.

If you drive down to Anchor Point, near Homer, you can take a pic of your Taco at the westernmost point in North America that you can get to by the continuous road system. Easternmost is Cape Spear near St Johns, Newfoundland.
