Thinking of installing locker!

I have a 05 Prerunner with a 6 inch lift and really just wanna prove my truck can go through a lot of mud, so im thinking of getting a locker installed. Anyone know how much these are and any advice?

ARB lockers RULE!!

If you get going through the mud with a heavy right foot with locker engaged...in 2WD.... you might find yourself breaking some other parts.

 

I agree and you wont have a 2wd to play in the mud with then you can get a 4x4.

Well, Im definitly not getting a new truck anytime soon. Soo.. is it worth buying?? I would have thought that a air locker would have helped more than what you said.

 

An Air locker from ARB is around $850. Compressor is $200~. Install is anywhere from $500-$700.

 

You asked for a price on airlockers arb is very good for your application but what your doing Janster is correct. You dont want to cause damage to your truck for some mudding fun. just giving some advice thats all.

 

So does anyone suggest that I buy it?? My truck can get through some deep stuff in 2nd gear but I wanna really show people that my truck can get through some mud w/o getting stuck.

 

the lockers really help a lot in rocks and stuff, though I have used mine in the mud before and it makes a difference. It is really just up to you if you wanna spend the money on it or not IMO.

 

hey kidcatcher so is it really true that you can not go over a certain speed limit when the locker is on ? ? will it break ither stuff ?

How hard of a job is it to install a locker yourself rather than taking it to a shop?

 

The speed 'limit' is a safety for driving ability, not for component weakness. At least that's true with the e-lockers, not sure on the air lockers though I doubt it'd be much, if any different.

you shoulda got 4x4

 

shoulda bought a 4x4. i wouldnt recommend you putting a locker on. youre only wasting your time and money , i say you should buy a old taco 4x4 with that money and make it your wheeling truck and nothing else :]
