Only if the heat range is changed.
The tip material makes no difference in anything other than how long they last.
The 4.0 emissions system is certified to run on copper for 30k.
The 2.7 emissions system is certified to run on iridium for 120k.

What are the stock NGK plugs? I'm going to replace mine with ngk iridiums when I get back to WI.

Seriously... unless you are running a supercharger, just stick with copper.
There is NO advantage to platinum or iridium on 30k change intervals.
They don't make more power, they don't improve MPG, all they do is last longer, and your powertrain and emissions warranty requires them to be changed every 30k.

You can spend $4 per plug for copper and change it every 30k, or you can spend $17 per plug for iridium and change it every 120k.

i agree. i get spooked when i think of sparkplugs that have been twisted into place for many many miles. i've messed with a sparkplug seized in a head (ford), and it just about makes you run to church to pray. it is nerve racking.

i spin my cheapo OEM coppers off every 30-35k miles for, if anything the peace in mind knowing they havent been there for 8 years.

I've been driving vehicles with Iridium plugs for quite a while and have never had a problem.
I changed my '08 "early" at 100k (and 5 years) and the plugs came out just as easily as the copper plugs did from my '03 Tundra at 30k.

Wife's Rav4 also uses iridium. I changed hers "early" as well, simply because she was due for a smog test and I wanted to be safe.
Turned out not to be needed... 2 years later, 136k, and her 2nd test last week STILL showed no CO, O2, or HC emissions, NOx was at 16 out of 792 allowed, and CO2 is at 14.8%.
