the basic frame work is the same. But the fabric thicknesses vary company to company. Even types of fabric.

there are some small differences too in the tents.

Thanks, How do like wheeling with it?

I haven't looked at one up close there is a shop in Salt Lake that I would like to check out they have a few different models. We want to put it on Ann's Pathfinder for a bunch of music festivals that she travels to in the summer and use it on truck as well. Looking for something that would fit between the bed rails and above the wheel wells, I would mount it on a slide master so it would roll out of the back of the truck.

That is a really nifty idea for a setup. It will keep you COG low while wheeling. Might not even know the tent is there really besides the extra weight.

I just don't know if any of them are that narrow...

    interesting idea!

For that, CVT wise, you'll probably want a Mt Bachelor. Fit on the pathfinder fine and fit in between the bed rails easy too but not take up 100% of your bed.

here are some vids i made to help you. Mine is the Mt Shasta. The Mt. Bachelor is the SAME size..BUT..the Shasta has the over hang that covers the ladder. Only difference. Since yours would be so low..i wouldn't opt for that so much. Plus you won't be using the annex with it that low too.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF9mX_F_X2I
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY03oEuoxWc

If yours is mounted between the bed rails. you won't even notice it offroading.

on the pathfinder, it'll hit the MPGs a bit and probably make it lean a bit more in the corners..but be great for festivals. There are also hard cased RTTs that are slimmer and work great on suvs. but cost a lot more.

I just looked at CVT's website and they have a few that are 56" wide and I saw 1 that was 51" wide and 1 that was 53". Those 2 are the hard cover pop up style that cost more like Monte said.

I can't remember what I measured the rails at but I know my 60" hi-lift will not fit the width of the bed...

the Bachelor and Shasta are 55 wide and should fit between the rails of a 2nd gen easily.

CVT lists them as 56". Our bed is supposed to be 60" wide, but we have that mouting rail system that comes in about an inch on each side and I don't think it truly is 60", more like 58 or 59" so 56" might be close unless he has removed the rail system.

    From Toyota-Bed width (total/between wheelwells) 56.7/41.5

Thinking a low COG and everything would be inside the softopper if mounted on one of these with either a tube rack w/tray or drawer system under the RTT.

how tall is the soft topper? I wonder if you could have the RTT almost lever with the bed rails..should be able too..only 14'' high or so..then you could fit the drawers easily.

id also fashion some fold down adjustable legs to come down from the slide to help support the tent when its out.

looking at photos of other racks. Looks like you could mount it at the bed rail height no problem.

However..i am seeing an issue with this plan..putting big bed drawers would seem like a good idea..but when the tent is out and open...you wouldn't be able to get in the drawers for shit...

But. when the tent is out, you would have access to the bed completely from the sides of the soft topper..

so maybe make a bed...cubie organizer type deal? so you can get stuff out of the sides.

I've been planning on trying to fit the rtt under the softtopper too. Just haven't had any reason to remove the rtt yet.

OK, n0rth. Yes, the truck is epic - this you've heard before. And it's well deserved. I'm actually now excited about adding a S/C to my own 2011 Regular Cab 4wd. :)

But what really impressed me - in a meaningful way - is your style of offroading. Low and slow - a combo I personally use, love and find too many skip in favor of high revs and tearing up the trail. :(

I used to be a Jeep Jamboree Trail Guide back home in Cnaada...and Jeep taught us all how to offroad safely with stock rigs - low and slow was the name of the game. of course, we also had to select the right terrain to match things like stock gearing with, as our job was to expose those new to offroading to it in a safe, controlled manner.

But, once you go slow, you never go...ah...err...any other freakin' way if you can help it! :) less breakage, less harm to the trail, less flying rocks to pelt people with. As is often said, less is more.

Not dissing anyone else's style here, as revs and speed have their place (lookin' at you deep mud, snow and hill climbs), but man, you are smoov... ;)

    Well done!

That crawlbox is part of the trick here. In 4Lo with the crawlbox also in low you will redline the motor in 1st gear at like 2 mph. Haha there is no such thing as fast in compound low.

Ordered limit straps and a few parts to finish the suspension. With the cold temps here I've seen a change in ride height but have been maintaining about 5 1/2" coldest -20 degrees to 6 1/4" @ 40 degrees chrome showing at ride height. I've taken the truck on some really whooped out trails and the thing kills it. Had to rein myself in a few times so I don't break anything I'm super impressed with the ORI's.

Nice. Those 10" are huge! Love the reactions from people when they see them on. Popcorn maker, bug zapper....
