Take it to Best Buy and their install shop and ask them what you need to get and have them install it for you....way easier on your brain cells and temper...

I went to a CB shop in Florida by Jacksonville and bought a CB holder and had them install it. Otherwise I would have gone to Best Buy and ask the questions....:annoyed:

Yeah. That's what I meant. They've got a whole aisle dedicated to chrome stick-on letters and fake vents...but no CB stuff. They have their priorities backwards.

So to wire it up to the battery, I can just loosen up the terminal connector and put the cb power inbetween the connector and the terminal yeah?

wonder if wiring it properly will make my SWR actually good haha.

well........when you go straight to the battery....you need to have a fuselink between the hot on the battery and hot wire from the cb.....in case of a short..the fuse will pop...not the cb.

I think what makes it worse, is when they're either crooked or put on a fender that doesn't have enough room between the wheel well and the door.

yeah...basically. but,if the fuse is right by the cb, and not too accessible.......put one by the battery....it'll be easier to get to.

    OK,
My "Father side" is going to show.STOP TRYING TO PINCH $$$.....Why buy cheap just to continually repeat the process........Yes the small Unidens,Maxons and Cobras are fine BUT the cheap antenna will KILL the whole set-up....
Trust this "Forum" for ideas ( search Cb's)....let the trial & era be somebody elses....READ HOW THEY CORRECTED THINGS,GROUNDED THINGS and INSTALLED RADIO and ANTENNA.....

A $600 radio is not worth 2 cents with a cheap antenna......That little fiberglass/steel whip is your link to RX/TX.....

If you do not live near a truck stop or CB shop,PM me and I can give you 2-3 CB radio sites to purchase any or everything or ask questions on their forums....

I drive for a living and nothing "Irks" me more than a great radio sounding like $hit due to a bad install.......Or someone trying it on "the Cheap"...2 of our drivers learned that the hard way $$$$$$...cracked or mis-matched antennas WILL FRY FINALS ( your radios guts);)

Sorry for the rant BUT PLEASE CHOOSE AND SPEND WISELY..

    Snoope back quiet

We were just saying to get a cheap one tonight so that he could install it. Or at least that's what I was saying. There's no doubt that the antenna can make or break a CB...get it? Break a CB?! HA! I kill me.

Anyways. Just defending my post. Good info though, snoope
