    Oh, that's hilarious!

"Sorry. We know your car has four seets, but you can't actually put people in all four without overloading the vehicle."

Perhaps the solution for Toyota will be to remove one of the seats. ;)

Reminds me of the child seats Cessna used to put in 152s....

Maybe as a pilot you could consult with Toyota on how to do weight and balance calculations.

Looking up the recall at this link, it references FMVSS standard 110, which is

This would lead me to believe that it isn't suspension TSB related, but has to to with the rims and load rating of the tires. Either way, Toyota is going to get an ear full if they think they can sell me a truck with a specific load carrying capacity and then later revise it without consequence.

Ive got the sticker also but mine says a reduction of 1.0 ??? I dont remember it being there when I purchased the truck. I just had it in the dealership a few months ago for a radio replacement and its first oil change. They noticed that I had 5100's all the way around and an AAL. Maybe thats why my sticker say 1.0 ? I dont know? I noticed when I load my quad in the bed that there is alot of sag, can I go in and get the tsb added to my AAL? Ive got a Fabtech AAL that I bought from DSM.

Could be a pain in the ass. When they did my TSB, they pulled the whole leaf pack and popped in new ones. You might have to remove your AAL before the TSB is done unless the dealer is willing to move the extra leaf into the new leaf pack.

My sticker says 24.0 lbs, a very distinct 4 with a period, not a sloppy 9. I also looked under the truck and there are only 3 leaves on the back. Rides nice, might just do a Timbren upgrade and call it good. Build date was 05/09, Mexico plant.

I'm doing the toytec ultimate lift kit and calling it a day. I tried to get my dealer to do it on my '09 even pointing out that my VIN is on the tsb list but no fly with crapyota....Although the vehicle is great i may have to pull back on future toyota purchases as i've been very jaded before with poor customer and corporate feedback and have ill patience for the # crunchers at corporate.

I never buy any big ticket item without doing a lot of comparison shopping. Before I decided to purchase a Toyota Tacoma, I took a long hard look at Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado, Nissan Frontier, and the Dodge Whatchamacallitt (who cares!). It was really no contest, but I had to go thru the motions. Sure, Toyota ain't perfect......and I've had a few heated moments with the customer service reps. But Toyota has the best product that's on the new truck market for its class. Any shortcomings, I'm willing to deal with on my own. Unfortunately, in today's world that's about the best we can expect. I can take some comfort in knowing that long after the rest of those above mentioned trucks are in the junk yard, my Taco will still be with me.

I to understand that nothing is perfect, although I paid a pretty penny for this truck and I hope it lives up to the hype.
I also have the sticker, and I am somewhat pissed that it was not brought to my attention when I bought the truck.

I've also got the sticker on my 09. Little off topic, but without the TSB done, how much weight would it generally take to bottom out?

Yeah. What's the big deal about the sticker? Just take it off. My 08 didn't have a sticker but I bet it could carry 290 lbs less than advertised. These stickers are just lawyer games.

It's only 290 lbs anyway. I had 2 tons of fertilizer in an 89 1 ton dodge 4x2 and drove it up a gravel road no problem. I don't think payload is an exact science.

I just picked mine up last week, it was built 07/09 in california. The sticker is a bit different though, It is alot smaller and says that the payload is only reduced by 5 lbs!!!

    That's pretty important info.
You pay attention to that now!
Seriously, thanks for sharing so we see the variety of stickers.

My reg cab is rated at 5100 gvwr, the"passenger" sitcker says total of 1300 lb, cargo+passenger. It weighs about 3600 lb(take from) 5100 lb = 1500 lb (payload). so they imply 2 different ratings. You'll never need to sort some of the differences out, I'm sure all the tacos have a similar double speak, my chevy(previous truck) did too.
Could the 290 lb be rated to braking/ accelerating differences..... my axle ratings add to over 5800 lb, YOu'll never us all of it due to the shifting weight.
I think toyota messed up and a lot of you are rightfully P.O.ed. From what is said across the thread, be careful what u ask for, you might get it ...meaning If you dont tow much , or haul a lot think twice about this tsb.
I need to stick 1000 lb in my truck, not sure where its at on this issue (3 spring std cab).

I picked up my Access Cab a week ago, it was built about July 8th. It does have the sticker, but it is marked "0" in both locations. In other words, the payload capacity has not been lowered.
