    Hi All,

i'm wondering how difficult it is to install OEM running board on Taco DC. Does it required drilling of any kind, or just bolt on.

I asked my dealer to install the parts, they asked me $400 for labor cost. :p

    Any input would be appreciated.

The holes are already there. There should be six holes with plastic screws in them. About a 30 minute job.

A little of this and a little of that.

    Agree!
It should be pretty straightforward. No drilling required. The instructions will let you know what tools are needed & include verbiage as well as drawings. Not just stick drawings like you get when you buy something from Ikea.

    Good luck.

Just like blackjack said, holes are already there with plastic screws which you have to take out but a simple job overall....Don't even have to lift the truck.....my advice though would be to not tighten all of the bolts until you have them all on, to make it go on a little easier....

Thanks to all. That makes me think why they ask for that much to install. :(

did mine with a friend 30 min tops.

If you don't have a friend available, you can use a couple of jackstands

This is exactly what I did, with jackstands.

    $400 is outrageous

Think I would find another dealership even if I bought the truck there. Bordering on fraud that is so high. 30 minutes comes out to $800 an hour for installing 6 bolts with a socket wrench on each side.

As a side note, I had this running board on a previous Tacoma and did not like it as the front of my feet were all that could get up on it. The running board is too close to the side of the truck and I always felt like my feet were going to slip out from under me when using it. There are some other ones out there that are better in my opinion. If you have a 4x4 you definitely might want to think about whether you will want sliders or some other option.

I feel the same way, size 12 doesn't help either, just have to step up with one side rather than the front of your foot.

    $400 :D:D

Get a friend to help you hold them up, and you'll be done in 30 minutes.

And they said for dealer installed, $400 is a good price. I felt like an idiot. I know that it shouldn't take more than an hour.

My friend is going to stop by to help me install the running board. Two six packs that will cost me. hahaha

I like these RB's Not for steps so much but they really help defend against door dings from a//hole drivers who park too close.

I have installed a bunch of sets, and this might come in handy. I bought a tap, with the correct threads for those holes. It only takes a minute to run it in to clean the threads up before installing the bolts. Even though they have plugs in them, they get some crud in there over time and the tap makes life a lot easier when installing them. Just a tip ,hope it helps.
