No gear oil in the transmission. Made it 3500 miles before it started making any noise and continued on to about 4000 by time they finally got it in to replace it. I can only imagine how long it will last with oil.

Oh... just thought of one. The sub rattles just a little. Need to get behind the seat and see if it is loose.

1 year and 3 weeks old, 2012, 38,000 miles. I had the shifter replaced just before the 36,000 mile warranty expired. It rattled in 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears. I was told at the 25,000 and 30,000 mile service that it was normal and that the mechanic had driven 2 trucks on the lot that did the same thing. At the 35,000 mile service I explained that I stopped by and took a test drive of a new truck and it didn't do it, that mine didn't start doing it until around 15,000 miles, and my job is to inspect and test drive new vehicles looking for defects so I have a fair idea what I was is right and wrong. No other fit and finish defects.

    Interesting list...

I would say that scratches and dents are more likely due to shipping and distribution and not factory defects (though who really knows).

Other defects mentioned were not initial defects observable when delivered and could not be detected at the time the unit left the factory (paint, rust...) and had to 'develop' over time. The reason I was interested in initial factory defects was that they result from a highly controlled repeatable process. Defects that crop up months or years later have far too many variables affecting them.

thanks - again interesting - glad everyone is enjoying their trucks!

Don't you mean they result from deviating from a highly controlled repeatable process?

None. Now, I can talk for days about how shitty the rear leafs are, but that's not technically a defect as they were designed that way. The build quality on my truck was stellar.
