Why TRD? Because the skewp adds like 30 hp.

I effen love this forum! Turns out I really need the hood scoop. (sarcasm) Seriously though I appreciate all the input. I will surly check with the dealer about the automatic having some type of LSD?

Then no locker... as there is no long bed OFF ROAD in a double cab. Steep drop offs will hang you up... heck, even my standard double cab bed truck is too long for some of the off roading I do...

I too live in Florida and have a 2wd trd or. It serves the purpose but I wouldn't mind owning a 4wd. I got a good deal on my truck and it had low miles. The deal was too good to pass on. Another plus on 4wd vs. 2wd is resale value even here in the sunshine state. Good luck whatever you decide.

Get what you need, pay for what you want and get whatever you think will be best for you for the time you intend to own the vehicle.

Other than offroading, I have only run into a few times where I needed 4wd to do what I wanted, and those were all optional here in Socal. I got the 4x4 because of occasional drives to snow, because of wanting to ride around in the mountains here and was willing and able to pay a little more for it. Same with the TRD, it's not needed. I got the most options I could because I was tired of being jealous of my wifes cars that always had power windows/keyless entry, Bluetooth radio/nav etc and I plan to own for 5-10 years and the extra cost was worth it. Plus there is something to say for cosmetics although it's not for everyone. You either like/want/use the extra features for extra money or you don't. The base model 2wd regular cab taco is a rock solid little work truck and they sell a zillion.

Get what you want and will be happy with and don't leave room for regret. Buy once, cry once.

Oh and Skewp envy is an ugly thing. I don't really care about it but my non-skewpified coworkers are jealous and I have had offers from TW peeps to buy/trade my skewp hood. :)

Oh, I wish I had a long bed. I didn't even realize there was a choice until after I bought and that remains the only thing I wish I had gotten.

    See.. LBs have it...lol..

A bit ago, I thought about trading in for a 4x4, but it was price and use prohibited. The one option that I did seem interested in was the option to have no carpet and have that rubber/plastic floorboard..

Then that went out the window as (if I remember correctly) was only available on a short bed..

IMO I don't buy TRD Sport or TRD Off Road. It's an inflated option that get's you a sticker on your rear quarter panel. I'm putting a 3" Bilstein 5100 kit with a AAL from Toytec and 33" tires, 17" rims and putting a billet grill, found a oem factory color matched grill on ebay for $200, darker tint, short antenna, etc (pics to come, waiting for everything to ship) selling factory wheels/tires on craigslist for $1k. Gonna murder this thing out!

If you're leaving the truck stock and want the TRD package for resell value than go ahead and get it but all I wanted was the base 4x4 with a factory tow package or in OP case get the 4x2.

The hood scoop looks good but has no function. The seats are debatable. I'm not gonna be wheeling much and don't need the locker.

check the resale - the 4x4 almost all comes back, if you get a TRD sport 4x4 it comes with 17" wheels & no need for the extra "lift" nice overall hight as well. with the 3 options of radio's you don't have to get the Nav & the stock system is pretty good and the backup cam plays thru the monitor. This is assuming u are looking at new 2014's
