It is my first semester. Most of my courses were gen ed, yes. To clarify, it's not that economics has been hard, it's just that it is the toughest of my courses.

:notsure: It's not been too bad so far. I have nothing to complain about. Might be different with tougher courses later on though.

I used Pick-A-Prof when I was in school. It made college so much easier.

So far my focus has been getting into courses that I need. I'll worry about professors after next semester.

my first semester i took chem with a hispanic lady who spoke broken english and used another professors powerpoints and had no idea what she was doing....

couple semesters ago i took physics 2 with the head of the physics department and had to withdraw after the second test because i was doing so bad. took it the very next semester with a good professor and literally almost made a perfect score in the entire class. if they cant teach they cant teach, whether it be quantum mechanics or taking a shit.

DON'T FORGET IT. Seriously...I was able to choose teachers that allowed Open book/Open note/open internet tests, take home tests, or no presentations, or no homework, or basically if you came to class you passed. It was awesome.

Had a history teacher that could barely speak English (I figured it was History, an easy Gen-Ed course...just pick one). Asian lady. No lie, the word "Ruler" was "Luder". No one had any idea what she was talking about. Ever. Couldn't take notes because you didn't know what she was saying. I finished out the semester, made a C, and from then on, made sure I looked at Pick a Prof for every class.

Well, teaching people too crap can be difficult.
Did you learn anything in these classes?
Sounds like solid advice. Will definitely do that going forward.

for the most part college isnt really about learning, with the exception of the very specific major courses.

generally its proving that you can put up with bullshit and earn something that you put your mind to. proving your worth in the work environment. all that piece of paper says to most potential employers is that you can deal with shit and have motivation

might I add this is coming from a professor of mine haha

the environment college has become is this

    take in information
    memorize it
    regurgitate it for exams
    forget about it
    repeat

you will pick up some good shit along the way, some classes you will really take to. but for the most part businesses just want to see the piece of paper, real learning happens once you get into a job and start the hands on stuff.

    Yes.

Too bad I'm busy studying and playing frisbee and disc golf. Haven't even found a good place to fish around here.
