Why did you buy a Tacoma instead of the Tundra?

I went with the DCSB Tacoma because it fits in my garage and has enough room to drive the family around. Also, I don't tow much but it is able to tow what I need. A couple of weekends ago I brought home 2 tons of stone on a 16' trailer and a quarter yard of sand in the bed. The Tacoma handled it fine.

If I had gone with a Tundra I would've tried to find one with a bench seat in the front and the crewmax with the vertical sliding rear window. Seating for six would be nice, but not necessary over 99% of the time. And I really like the vertical sliding windows on the Tundras and 4Runners, I wish they offered one for Tacoma.

Just went to Toyota because I can't imagine you guys are comparing the same vehicles for the same money. There ain't no way no how a Tundra is going to be in the same price for the same year and same class of equipment. On Toyota.com, Tacoma starting at $17,875, Tundra starting at $25,920. I just configured one actually, small motor, TRD O/R just like the Tacoma I just paid $30,300 for, it was $35,915.

I wanted a physically smaller truck as I live in the suburbs and occasionally do go into Downtown Denver. I don't need it for major hauling (a couple dirt bikes and maybe a trailer with my crap between apartments).

I also really wanted a manual transmission and personally I like the composite bed, no rust is a good thing. Also while the Tacoma is cheaper than the Tundra it's not by much but I was already at the upper limit of my budget getting the Tacoma.

With the discounts offered on the Tundra’s and 0% financingToyota offers on the Tundra I believe it puts the trucks within a couple $K of eachother.

Everyone pretty much covered it here, Tundra is a beast. Tacoma fit the all around needs for me. I felt I can offload it alot easier too if the time comes as big trucks are a harder sell on the used market alot of times.

At first, I kinda felt like I was missing the towing capability and having less room for friends in my ride, but I learned its easier to find friends that have all the toys and you contribute with gas, food and join in the fun responsibility free! I just show up for the ride, and at the end of the day, I dont worry about hooking up a boat, toys, dropping off friends, etc. Just show up and when done, take off!!! Its easier to just pay and rent toys if you need to, I cant justify a huge truck and a bunch of toys at my crib that I would only use maybe once a year if that. I do alot of mountain biking though and the Tacoma kicks ass when it comes to hauling bikes.

My other car is an Avalon so I guess i do have a boat!

We have very many customers to come in for a Taco and drive out in a Tundra as the price is so close after rebates.
I do not drive the Tundra's as they are just to damn big for me. Much prefer the Taco to drive.

Almost every one of the Tundra's I have had for a demo I backed into something. Much prefer the Taco.

fuel mileage. I had a 2011 2500 crew cab long bed chevy with the 6.0L gas engine. it was a 4x4 and it ran 14.7mpg. it's 300 miles to the deer lease. money spent on fuel was horrible.

Size. The forest roads I go on are narrow and bigger trucks just get more damage and make getting to the destination more difficult or impossible.

Size! I've had three Toyota pickups ('89,'97, 2008. I used them for mainly hunting, off roading and fishing. Where I go in Arizona smaller trucks are a must. I have a hunting buddy with a Chevy pick up and he's scared to take his where I take mine.....

I commute 120 miles a day min. my tundra was killing me on gas, i was in a great position to sell and go smaller. Tacoma was the logical call. I hated the Tundra, I love this tacoma!!!

I was torn between the 07+ tundra and the 05+Tacoma.
for the money I was willing to spend the 2005 Tacoma 4 wheel drive sport trd fit neatly into my budget. & left enuff cash to fix it up like I want

I went to an '07 DCSB TRD Sport 4x4 from a '98 F150 XL SCab 4x2 mainly because that particular Ford was getting high in mileage and was not reliable. I needed something dependable. I could have gotten a Tundra, F-150 etc for the same cash, but I wanted to keep driving a standard. I also did not need full size truck anymore since I started using company trucks instead of my F150. Midsize Tacoma was a better fit for a lifestyle truck for camping, carrying kayaks, mountain bikes etc. I wish Toyota offered a DCLB 6MT though.

Have owned several F-150s and compact/mid-size pickups over the past 40 years and have always enjoyed driving the compacts/mid-sized ones more than the full sized ones (including Chevys, Dodges, and Tundras I have driven). I don't have a need for full sized pickup towing or carrying capabilities. I've never had any trouble with any Toyota I've owned, and I've had plenty of them. The only Tundra I've driven was a two-wheel drive one. Wife and I were underwhelmed with the ride quality. It was like being suspended in jello. Since it was a dealer loaner, we just felt relieved we hadn't actually bought one.

I really liked the looks of the Tacoma. Plus, I didn't need a bigger truck. It's my daily driver and off road bowhunting transportation. It's great on both counts.
