Just ordered bushing, axle seal, and removal tool. I'll pick up a race and bearing driver from harbor freight for $30. Where is the best place to get the 35mm axle nut socket?? My truck is a 2012 with 22k miles and 9k lifted with 5100s at 1.75 and 1.5 AAL.

I get the growl/vib 35-45mph. Worse when cold. Goes away with 4hi. Guess I need the bushing.

Get an extra seal. I went through two trying to get it in properly. I found cutting the out board lip off the old seal and using that over the new seal with the driver. The lip on the new seal will fit inside the reverse side of the old seal and won't damage it. I had trouble getting the seal square and not in too far. Chance said put the seal in flush with the face and not below it or it will leak. He also said don't close up without lubing the lip on the seal. You don't want to run it "dry" when you first try it out. I got the 35 mm socket at Autozone.

I have this annoying issue as well, it has gotten worse with the cold weather. It is barely noticeable after about 10 miles, seems to almost leave once it is warmed up I guess you could say. I visited the dealer about 6 months ago when I noticed it, they checked everything and said there was nothing wrong (surprising I know). I have a 2012 with OME lift, about 19k miles. I bought this truck certified used with only 2500 on the ODO so I have warranty up to 100k. If I do not install the ECGS bushing, what damage can occur down the road from this issue? Does anyone know of this issue causing any failures in anything??

TRUTH ^^^^ I BELIEVE THIS IS WHY I HAVE A SEEP.....
AND USE A TOYO SEAL NOT A NATIONAL.....
UNSURE IF MY PROBLEM IS FROM DRIVING IN TOO FAR OR NATIONAL SEAL....

ALSO A 2" PVC COUPLING WORKS PERFECT FOR THE DRIVER SIDE OIL SEAL.....

Marcitron, have you tried removing your front driveshaft to see if that makes the vibe go away? (Removing my rear shaft helped me figure out my rear driveshaft vibe.) I think I have the front diff bearing vibe, but mine doesn't go completely away when in 4hi, so I'm wondering about my front driveshaft. It felt sloppy when turning/wiggling it by hand, but my truck only has 47k on it. Haven't had time or warmth to do any real work on it yet.

Significantly increasing the wear on the spider gear assembly due to the offset load will cause premature wear on the spider gear assembly. I found MASSIVE amounts of metal filings in the front diff fluid when I changed it out due to the worn needle bearing at around 30k miles. I would highly recommend anyone experiencing this issue to change out the front diff fluid after changing out the needle bearing to get all that worn metal out of the diff

You didn't mention if you tried the 2H to 4H procedure.

No I have not been able to the front drive shaft its been pretty cold here...like -22 fahrenheit cold. Ive made an appointment at another dealer to get it checked out. They are all around a better dealer plus they have more experience in suspension systems. The first dealer I took it to hadnt even seen adjustable coilovers on the Tacomas and were stumped as how to raise and lower the ride height. Plus Ive got a 700 mile trip planned so hopefully everything stays in one piece until next week and if not then they will know exactly what the problem is...

I drove with the vibes for 30,000 miles before getting my arb locker which also fixes the vibes and had no scaring at all on my axle stubs, and no failures.

How do you like the ARB air locker and how many miles do you have on it?

I have front and rear arbs, probably the best mod I have done to my truck, no more vibes up front and the ability to get out of almost anything. But now I can get myself seriously stuck to lol. I have about 1500 miles on the lockers and I love them. Also bought the arb twin air compressor which is awesome, 12 to 35psi on all 4 tires in 5 minutes.
