Rear Diff type?

Is it a LSD, electronic, or regular/normal rear diff on the 2004 quadcab? Any takers?

I want to change the juice but not sure if I should use the 75-90 or 80-90.

On the 1st gen trucks....

TRD Offroad = locking rear diff
Non TRD truck = OPEN diff (regular/normal)

 

Not if it's a 4-cylinder automatic. The e-locker was not included in the TRD Off Road Package (nor was it available separately) on 4-cylinder automatics.

 

or you could have a 2001 4cyl manual transmission w/TRD Badges but without the Rear Diff Locker as well....

Wish I had had the diff locker, but instead I just have an open diff.

 

if it is a LS Diff there is a good chance that there is a sticker on the pumpkin telling you that.

By pumpkin you mean the Rdif itself? A plate or sticker on it?

Yup, little sticker between the fill and drain plug on the rear diff ( pumpkin ) will sometimes be there to tell you to use oil that has the LSD additive. Or use the code checker on the link I posted.

The axle code for your rig can be found on the manufacture's sticker located on the driver's side door jamb as follows:

First digit:

A = 7.5" ring gear
B = 8" ring gear
Next two digits:

01 = 3:42
02 = 3:58
03 = 4:10
04 = 4:56
05 = 3:15
06 = 3:91
07 = 4.30
Last digit:

A = 2 Pinion, Open
B = 4 Pinion, Open
C = 2 Pinion OEM Limited Slip
some '98-00 models have shown a BO code of "???" on the door plate; so far this turns out to be a 3.91 gear ratio, at least for the 5sp. RZN171L-CRPDKAB with factory 31s/265s should be 4.56 with the AT.
