I use a nice BD ICON headlamp for many things. IN my pocket, next to my leatherman, I keep a Maratac Single AA LED flashlight/ http://countycomm.com/aastainless.html

Keeps the bulk down and the 130 lumen is fine for the small tasks I need it for. Light enough to 'bite' or 'gum' also.

I have to stay away from County Comm...I spend far too much money on the simplest shit when I go on there for too long.

I hear you. Loud and clear. For anyone that wants HIGH output lights. Check out some of the ones on http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?45-LED-Flashlights

Then when you are ready to buy, check out their marketplace.

I like the AA platform. In my travels, all the places we stopped in 'the boonies' had them. 1 out of +60 didn't have the CR123A's - was a wake up call. I had a handful of new ones in the truck, but still like to pick up deals on stuff whenever i can. Even battery's close to the expiration point or past, I pop them open and immediate rotate them into the gear and date/ document the ones I pull.

I carry a stream light ultra light ProTac 2L and I use a lithium aaa in it. It's $50 at Cabelas right now. I originally got this as an ultra light backpacking light. I used it on a 5 day hike in the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico and it outperformed everyone's lights and I never swapped to my backup battery.

Yeah - I saw that light on Amazon. May have to pick one up just to have it.

So...as I was saying I had a spending problem with County Comm...I just ordered another $100 worth of stuff off of there. Damnit.

Excellent. Yep thats how its done. Did you grab a small can for it to sit in and able to use as a cup/ pot? I have a titanium mug that i use these for occasionally. Seets nicely in the center of it.

I have a plastic container that I will store it in and I have a metal canteen mug to use right now. I am looking at getting a small pot and maybe a metal grill top that stands on its own to put it under.

I had one of those grills. Was great until you used it and got stuff stick to it Like chicken skin or something. Basically it is a bunch of bike spokes. It can be a real pain to setup if you are in a hurry or your hands are cold. Practice setting it up a few times a day for a week before it makes it in the field.

I did to. I used it rock climbing. I grilled steak in some very unusual places, but I also had a bad experience with it. I ended up packing an 1/8" thick piece of expanded metal and for cooking. Build fire, stack rocks, throw down the grate and cook. Doesn't get more simple than that.
