Only really makes sense if you solid mount the lowers. TC sells their uppers heimed but it costs extra.

Alignment. I can't get my camber in spec, and I can't figure it out. The only thing I can think is that the coilover bucket is bent in about 1/2", but I gusseted and did an engine cage around it (probably after it was bent)....easier to do heims than cut all that out and start over. It could be bent spindles I guess, but I can't prove that with a tape measure no matter how hard I try. Everything looks fine, Just one tire wonky even with the cams maxed out. / |. Corners great to the left though!

oh I see. That makes sense. I know guys swap them over sometimes because of alignment reasons too

Oh for sure, but what is bent is the question. My uniballs were a little sloppy (wheel bearings still tight) so I swapped them out today thinking it was that, but no dice.

mine happened before long travel...after that it only got worse(bent coil buckets)but now i have a crossover hoop and all the gussets, so far so good. the spindles made the negative camber much worse due to zero preload.

I like the look of weld on but I like the option to remove it and start over when stuff like this happens, and the ability to remove and paint

Bent spindle on the passenger is what got me, even with a gussest. Can't bring it past 2.7°

Could you see that it was bent? Mine might be but I don't know how to measure to prove it. UCA-sidewall measurement is the same both sides... I hate throwing random parts at stuff. It's an expensive way to troubleshoot.

Only indication that the spindle is by the cracked welds holding the spindle to the gussest. Visually looking at it it doesn't look bent. Its still on the truck but going just actual alignment numbers when I put my junk on the fancy alignment rack at mybdealership and its way off from the original setup. Drivers side has not changed in nearly 3 years now.

I bought used spindles off of some Joe in jersey for 40 bucks and just waiting to get all new bushings, Heims, and gussests and do it all at once when I get new tires in about a month

I should have my gussets here on Friday and I am interested to see how they match up when I hold them up to my spindles...

    Monkeyproof,

Have you replaced your uniballs yet on your UCAs/LCAs?

I throw the truck on a jack about once a month and shake the tires looking for play. I don't see any in the UCA/LCA but I've had the LT kit on for at least 3+ years and 80k+ miles, so I know it has got to be time soon...

Tie rod ends, on the other hand, I go through like Rosie O'Donnell at a buffet... I am tempted to ditch the heimed steering and go back to stock.

I stuck with the stock tie rod arms on my kit. Granted I only run 32's, but Spoonman put it well when he said leaving the stock tie rods on keeps your steering sealed, and they are still bendable, so if they do break they are cheap/easy to replace

I just changed my lowers for the first time in 50K miles. They were fine, a little loose, but certainly within tolerance. I also converted to TC's Nylatron bushings 50K ago. They haven't worn in any way that I can see, and I only greased them on install and kinda forgot to since then. Oops. They are worth the coin, but TC says don't put them on a DD for some reason. I didn't notice any difference in noise and they don't squeek, so who knows. They will make you cuss and throw tools on install however. Do not attempt without a good press. I did it without, but it was not a good time.

I'm running stock tie rods (with extender) with really heavy 37's. No problems at all.

After calling TC it sounds like converting the existing arms to heims won't work well... They are a slightly different geometry. It's obvious looking at the pictures, so I just ordered complete heim uppers. Merry Christmas pos taco, maybe you will drive straight now.
