    Thanks! :)

It was a beautiful day up there. I wish I would have taken more pics but I was more concentrated on getting my friend's truck out. My friend said he took some pictures during the recovery(s)(my truck did get stuck at one point). I'll post some of his pictures once I get them.

I learned some things so the trip was a win win for both my friend (stuck truck guy) and myself.

    1. I need to get my winch fully installed. This would have helped a lot.

    2. I really should get snow chains for my truck.

    3. No rear locker can really suck at times.

    4. Duratracs did pretty damn awesome in 1.5'-2.5' of snow.

So do you have a receiver mount winch, or what? If so, how would a permanent mounting have been helpful? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

Maybe I should clarify a little bit.

The mount for my winch is inside my front bumper. If you look at that picture I posted above you can see the fairlead on my front bumper.

I have the winch body installed in my front bumper but haven't found a good spot to mount the solenoid (control box) yet. That is why I say mounted but not wired.

Are you mounting it so that you can hook the wired remote to it? Or are you mounting it somewhere hidden, and then use the wireless remote?

    Welcome to NorCal! Where abouts?

Ah. Yeah, I could see where that'd be a pain when you went to use it.

I was up past Middle Creek by Penny Pines. Just out of Upper Lake.

Yes you need a permit. They charge $5 per cord for permits. Minimum of 4 cords, max of 12. You cut and then tag your load with the date marked on it. Dead and down wood only, no falling allowed.

Permits are like fishing licenses though, expire at the end of each year. And cutting season closes from Jan 1- April. At least on the MNF it does.

And Im not sure about the sticker, it only had the driver's side one when i bought it. I know some folks have 2, but who knows? I never really notice, because you can't see both sides of the truck at one time :)

Sounds like a good time. I could maybe use a pickup load not a 4 cord minimum.:D
I figured a permit was needed I was thinking around $10, so $5 works. How do you go about getting a permit?

    Thanks,

    Brett

Yeah the way the Warn solenoids are, it's kinda of awkward on how to mount it. If you don't end up mounting it to your bumper, you'll almost have to make a bracket for it to be mounted on like in your engine bay, not to mention the extra wiring and connectors you'll need to extend it

Yeah, I pretty much need to fabricate a bracket. This is the difficult one since I do not have any type of shop tools to make one.

Toss in the lack of room left in the engine bay and this little project is pretty tough to finish up :)
