Yea I went with the 885s since I'm not going to weigh down my 2.7 with a steel plate bumper. Aluminum would be sick but expensive.

I had a dream last night and woke up and have decided I want to build a tube buggy.

The chances of me ever escaping the business or the east coast are slim. Overland and Expo is great, but I'm looking at 30k in upgrades on a truck I still won't wheel hard.

Instead I'm going to get it regeared for towing and throw a shell, RTT, and fridge back in it and call it good.

I'm thinking a one or two person tube chassis built like an 80s Yota pickup with a Turbo 22re on propane, Marlin Crawler, and locked ECGS Comp 9s with ORI gas struts front and rear.

Going where no Tidewater member has gone before.

Ok so a buddy of mine works in a tube and fab shop and can cut the tube and bend it at the shop and then weld it all up at my place. But I'll need to buy a welder. What sort of welder will I need for doing DOM tube welding and things like that? Budget is about 2k

I may not have much knowledge on crawler builds but I'll be an extra hand in the process. Always wanted to build a crawler.

What kinda power do you have at your place?

Do you have 220V easily accessible? If so get the biggest amperage 220V MIG welder you can afford.

If you don't have 220V then you are really asking for trouble.

I have access to several vendors so let me know what your power situation is and I can shop around for you and provide some recommendations.

Best bet is to avoid using extension cords.

    Does this require 220?

Apply 220 to that and it could become a sticky situation :violent:

I've got a can of 3M Super 90. Shits expensive but it works awesome, I wrapped an entire interior on an S10 with Tweed and 3M Super 90, also use rubber cement on the edges/backside of the panel for double reinforcement. Thats the only thing that has me NOT wanting to do this, its such a high use area where eventually, it will probably come up/fabric get stained or faded. Or its just laziness.. I have everything here to do it
