The better/worse part is the test is open book. Open book means I have the book and my notes, but this professor gives very little to no partial credit when it's open book...

 

^ yea I never liked open book or notes tests... Prof must be worried about the job he/she did teaching you lol

 

Possibly. He is originally from India but has been working as a professor at ISU since the late 80's. Because the program is dying from lack of students they cut all the professors they could and pulled him out of research. This is the 1st class he has taught in 10 years.

 

That's fucked up... that isn't teaching or learning...

 

I guess if he grades it right that works. Like putting 10 problems on the test and grading it out of 8. Personally I don't think curving is good for the students. You go to school to learn not to get good grades. The grades are supposed to show how well you learned not that you out-test the other students in your class.

Teachers curve because it saves them but in the long run it hurts the student. Real life isn't going to be curved...
