    I had never heard of HEET, but i wish i did because my fuel line has frozen up and haven't been able to start the car since the beginning of this cold snap last week. At least that's what I'm hoping it's just a frozen fuel line, not real issues with the fuel pump. I don't have access to a garage, so I'm HOPING that when it gets above freezing tomorrow that it will start again.
    I added HEET yesterday to the tank but i knew it wouldn't do much after the fact.

    I'd appreciate input from anyone that has dealt with this issue before.

    You have to melt the ice somehow. I have heated gelled diesel tanks with a tarp and a portable space heater. Once you get it running go fill it up with non ethanol premium. Ethanol attracts water. It is very bad for your fuel system. Do you have any codes? If the fuel rail pressure is low (fuel pump/filter) it will throw a code.

    You can also get a plug in heater and stick it on the fuel tank...just be careful as the tank is plastic. Stay under 300 watts or so...also check your battery voltage. Batteries don't work for shit in the cold. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200339139_200339139 This would work good to unthaw the tank-

    Can you pre-heat your engine with these portable plug in heaters without doing a perminant install? I have read that you can glue them to the oil pan. I don't want to do that, but do occasionally get into cold enough situations where I would like to pre-heat the engine. Thoughts?

    They work great. I have one on my manual trans. In subzero temps it shifts easier. My truck starts fine even below zero, so I don't have an engine heater. They even have magnetic heaters...

    Ha. I found out the other day my KTM has a little snowflake that flashes on the dash if it's below freezing. I've been thinking of getting some studs so I can ride on ice too...
