Why did you buy a Tacoma instead of the Tundra?

For me, at the time, i didn't have my kids and didn't need the capacity of a full size. Also when I bought my Tacoma in December 2006, the Tundra wasn't out. Today, I could definitely use the cabin room of a full size as I have to young one's in car seats and now find my Tacoma too cramped when we have to use my truck. Thank god for our Sienna. Anyways, I've found myself looking at fullsize trucks more and more online; however, the Tundra is near the bottom of my list if I were to buy a full size. When you look at the facts, the Tundra doesn't have close to the economy as the Big-3. Also around here, there isn't a big supply of Tundra's and that's not becasue of high demand....the Toyota dealers here don't have many on their lots, becasue they can't sell them. My list goes Silverado, F-150, Tundra, Ram.

I bought both! I bought the 08 Tundra cause I wanted a full size truck for hunting and towing my boat. I already owned a 99 taco at the time 4cyl extra cab. Once the Tundra was paid off I traded the 99 for a 13 DCSB V6. They are both awesome trucks and serve their purposes. I use the Taco as my daily driver and light hauling back and forth. The Tundra is loaded down with hunting gear right now and gets me to the tree fast. I love both trucks, but the 5.7 is a sick engine! That truck is a beast and hauls ass! Anyway toyota trucks rock. Who cares if you drive a Tundra or Tacoma! Your in one of the best trucks made!!!

They did offer that configuration once upon a time... That's what I was looking for but I didn't want to buy used. Came across a 2009 or 2010 DCLB TRD Sport with the manual trans... But these trucks hold their value so well you might as well buy new.

when I bought my 2010 and my 2012 Tacoma's...I didn't even consider the Tundra, because I'd been driving full size pickups for 30 years and wanted to downsize.

I am seriously considering the 2014 Tundra as my next truck

The Tundra is the size of a bus and gets about the same gas mileage. Personally I think the Tacoma is too big, but nobody makes a smaller truck.

    There is no DCLB 6MT.

I searched enough and never found one single truck in that configuration or a Toyota document that has a mention of one.

Did you see it in person or just an ad online (most likely a typo)?

Size and mpg. I could've had a tundra for the same price if not cheaper than the Taco (bought mine during the accelerator "problems" and they were desperate for sales). Now I somewhat regret it. I don't live in a big city anymore and would like a bigger truck. Don't get me wrong, I love the taco. Just wish I had more room.

Tundra was too large. Would love to have the power, but not willing to deal with the size on an everyday basis.

    Several reasons, but mainly,

Smaller... fits in my limited space garage.
    Availability of manual transmission
    Better gasoline mileage.

    I bought both :D

But my Tacoma came first. Like how it felt inside, didn't like the hugeness of the interiors of the full-sized trucks .

    enough to go over stuff
I dont have a need for a full size pickup. The mileage was better on the tacoma. I dont haul or tow anything the tacoma cant handle. The crew cab is big enough for family and friends.

I thought the same thing ... the 1st Gen Tundra was the perfect size for me but the new Tundras are way too big for my needs. The Tacoma is plenty of truck for my needs but if I purchase a larger camper down the road that may change. Even then I would probably keep the Tacoma as a daily driver and pick up a full size truck to tow the camper.

not the current Tundra. The previous Gen had about the same capability and similiar size ot the current Tacoma, at the time it didn't make sense to buy a truck that got worse mileage, similiar towing/hauling capability and slightly higher price.

Tundra is too big and bulky, I wanted a mid-size truck like the Taco...
