Agreed, but hardly if you have street tires. I have BF GoodRich A/T tires...love em', but it is a sport package, and not what the truck came with in the first place so I'm getting Michelin Fuel efficient tires when they are due. I'm going to go with the skinniest tires possible.

To make my goal more "Possible", I'd like to see 500 miles per tank...highway at least. I used to have the 2.7 4 cylinder manual, and it would pull off like 550 miles per tank on its best run.

Why didn't you get the 4cyl Tacoma if you are so fixated on mileage ?

The DoubleCab Speedway Blue is literally my dream truck...literally. They only one I could find was the 4x4. If I had to do it all over again, I'd get a 2wd, 6cyl, long bed, 6 speed manual one though :(

Oh no...I'm bitching again...I'm content with what I have. :)

Plus, making a 4x4 extremely fuel efficient is more of a challenge to me. More interesting...I think.

Not true. There are a few...and I mean...a few. I saw a kid "19 yrs old"...who wanted to sell his for 21k...speedway blue, double cab, 6 speed manual 4x4...special ordered...

I was about to buy it, but he put a cheap as lift on it...didn't drop the diff...and when I asked him to pop the hood...I couldn't see the engine it was so full of mud...

Later...my neighbor told me that his friend was selling a 6 speed manual speedway blue double cab...but he said he was happy I didn't buy it because they "BEAT THE HELL OUT OF IT"...yea...same kid we were talking about...

They are out there...just extremely rare. Probably wouldn't be able to find it in speedway blue though.

His was a shortbed...that's the only variance. His dad owns an auto shop and is filthy rich...like I said...it was special ordered.

Im skeptical of #8-10, but the stuff the guys talking about make sense and hes not claiming an unreasonable amount of mpg's over the epa rating.

Are you going to pull the heads to index the plugs, Ive heard of it in racing engines but seems like a pain to get a minor gain.

Maybe try some headers if you wanting to squeeze every last bit of efficiency out of it. Maybe you could have a set custom built with smaller pipes to help with low end/normal driving.

Also you could lower the truck a bit and get a xrunner air dam.

    Good luck.

Can't special order a factory package that doesn't exist.

There is a period at the end of that sentence.

ESPECIALLY in California where every configuration has to be approved by CARB.

    Now we know you're lying.

Be skeptical of 1-7 as well.
    It's all bullshit.

Yea mostly 1-7 is maintenance or a negligible weight loss.

If this guy does the whole hypermile thing with his tires at 50 psi, rolling through stop signs while tailgating a big rig with inches to spare, he might get way over what the mpg sticker says.

These trucks are geared to low to do that. Even if you changed gears it would only stay in high gear going down hill, flat roads with no wind, the motors arent stout enough for a gear that high with a truck this size.
